Xautak seems to me like a background, multiworld presence (awareness) that can manifest and act only if summoned (like in Loarnab fight) or under certain, very specific conditions (daemonheim Rift, deep sea conditions, high concentration of Anima, elder artifact or god activity...), but otherwise lies dormant and can't be noticed over our daily activities and usual thoughts, unless it gets power up.

Similar to Zaros/Seren subtle, unconscious manipulations with our thoughts and emotions, with the difference that Seren/Zaros actually have goals and ideology/agenda and are rather consistent, while Xautak wants to twist and consume and/or has his own totally incomprehensible, insane eldritch goals.

He has certain elder-godlish feel to me, yet even elder gods have their goal and purpose, while cyclic and simple. I would imagine him as Elder god who broke the cycle of death and rebirth in the Anima and becomes something else. He could lost interest in building world, laying eggs, die in sleep, turn into Anima and rebirth from it, maybe he wants to consume everything, grow like omnipresent spirit, make his own anima by twisting itself in madness and ''live'' forever or something.

Xau-Tak is pretty much confirmed to have no relation to the Elder Gods.

Anyway, Zombies are seen on the Harbinger in the latest BTS/Trailer, so it's highly likely to be one of Rabid Jack's ships. So expect some nice juicy lore on Monday.

I'm surprised they made a ship the main enemy of the Arc saga.

Not its captain, not its crew, the actual ship itself.

It's an impressive piece of craftsmanship, but how are we expected to be afraid of a ship ran by zombies and perhaps the only human as a captain?

Best case scenario, survivors of a Xau-Tak encounter/sighting.

Worst case scenario, random zombies doing bad stuff because Piracy.

So Arc 2 is completely devoid of Xau-Tak content (so far, anyway), although it was never explained how Cora gained her powers over the undead, so very well could be with the use of Xau-Tak related stuff.

I think it may be possible that we'll get a Xau-Tak reference or two from the castaways, but not holding my breath.

Could Xau-Tak have killed the moai heads on the islands, or have been responsible for that entity around Goshima?

The entity on Goshima is
The Khan of Goshima, risen from the dead and turned into a Jiangshi by her adoptive daughter, Captain Cora.

So not directly Xau-Tak related, but we don't know the source of Cora's abilities.

Keep in mind, the Arc is rather isolated from godly influence due to an anti-god barrier over all of Wushanko originating from Kami-shima. Unless Xau has non-dead things working under him (think: cult) neither his influence nor anything sustained by his magic (anything Xau personally raised from the dead) should be able to even enter the Wushanko Isles.

That being said, I like Wahi's idea of Cora having gained her necromantic powers through something related to, but not dependant on the power of, Xau-tak. I mean, Higgs mentions still hearing moaning coming from near gate after the final quest, so I doubt the necromancy shenanigans are all over already.
