Interesting ideas here. One I particularly like is the 'time bubble' idea.

Ever since the Sixth Age began, the lore has basically been written into a corner with the return of the gods. We're meant to fear that a new God Wars will begin and given how devastating we're told the previous God Wars were, we're meant to be fearful for the fate of Gielenor. But aside from the creation of the crater in Lumbridge, and the smaller crater created by the destruction of Bandos' tower, the clashes have created very little in the way of destruction.

This, of course, is necessary for RuneScape to function. The various towns, cities, and skilling areas need to remain available for skilling and other non-questing activities, and so therefore the gods and their followers have to tone down their battles so that all these places remain intact for players to use. The Needle's Remnants idea, however, provides a way to 'have your cake and eat it too', allowing for one version of Gielinor with all sorts of destruction taking place while still allowing the normal version to remain intact.

And yes, the whole scenario is just so epic that indeed, nothing could top it. It would indeed have to be the conclusion of the 'Master Tale' of the gods, the God Wars, and so forth, and anything that came afterward would have to be the smaller-scale stuff where we're helping various humans, dwarves, goblins, gnomes, and so forth with their problems and such, as we've done before.

This is great - it is awesomely epic, and it kills off a lot of characters would keep the stakes high (though I don’t think all the main gods need to die). I think an end to the wild stakes of the 6th age would be very good.

(I pretty much agree with everything Darelzel said)

I’ve thought about bringing in Old School as a “bubbled” or alternate version of Gielinor (in which Guthix still lives) so that somehow the two could be slowly reintegrated lorewise and geographically. Maybe even the mechanics and economies could be correlated in ways that allow one character to play in either world (which would be more complicated than your awesome proposal for an instanced elder-war Gielinor). (I’d also love to see the possibility of returning to instanced 3rd age battles.)

I’ll think over this some more and post any additions I’d recommend. I’d love for an endgame like this to set up years’ worth of smaller scope problems for us to solve.

i cried , after reading the beginning & skipping the most of the middle part and went to the end of the middle part to the end........

this is truly epic - will give it another read when im in the right state of mind cuz .... this is epic... reminds me of RuneScape Idle Adventure (almost dead on with the ending idea) cuz thread of fate/ needle or whatever restart everything but with better perks from previous "cycle" like u mentioned.

however, the game still have their respectfully race quest-series yet to be done (gnome & etc). beyond that, that really sounds fitting.... and i cried cuz hopefully the game wont come to an end.

CROSS-SERVER PVP between rs3 & osrs... (DMM or something)

like in another game that they never manage to & shut the game down.

Updated *very* slightly, given that Desperate Measures has been released now. Remarkably, this theory still seems very plausible. Of particular note is the Black Stone Dragon as a boss in Desperate Measures - it is highly likely that Xau'Tak somehow controls this "shadow anima"...which fits into my theory perfectly. Hope you all can see how this will still work.

Thanks everyone for your great feedback. I appreciate it!

Sorry, buddy. I stopped reading as soon as you said " a new Elder Level Quest that requires all Grandmaster and lower quests to be completed first".

NO! I'm sorry. Just...no!
We do not need a new level of quest difficulty. Grandmaster quests are difficult (most of them) and drawn out enough already.

We can't keep having higher and higher levels of things. There needs to be a point where we just stop adding new versions of old things to the game, and just start coming up with new things. I know that is difficult, but that's what we pay them our money for.
