Ichthlarin is your next visit in the Underworld. You talk to him about your problem with Sliske inside of you and need that dealt with before Sliske "accidentally" destroys the universe. He takes you through a series of trials designed to separate you from Sliske, and at the culmination, you are taken to a dreamland where Sliske and Guthix both reside. Sliske basically says it was too good a deal to hitch a ride with the World Guardian to have a front row seat to the battle of a lifetime. Guthix says that it is not his desire for Sliske to coincide with the World Guardian, and that it is very dangerous. Guthix then approaches you and in a blinding flash, Sliske is gone. Guthix says his actions are only temporary, and that he knows not how to permanently remove Sliske's influence. He speaks with you and you two walk along a stream with flowers and butterflies in a peaceful conversation. He says he wishes there to be some other way, but he knew this day would come. sTReTCh1028

As the conversation continues, you ask if he knew about everything that would happen. He answers that Time is a fickle thing to play with, and he of all people should know the folly in that. He tells you that, while there have been other World Guardians in Gielinor's past, you would be the last. You ask if there is any way to defeat Xauros and save the Universe. Yes, he replies, there is a way. But it will involve deep sacrifice. You push the issue and ask if untold death and destruction can be avoided. He says that where there is death, there will always be death. He hugs you and gives you strength, claiming that his will is that the Last World Guardian will make the hard choices and look to the future, not the past. He must go, he announces, and as you try to keep the conversation going, it all melts away and you wake. Ichthlarin says he did what he could, and the rest is up to you.
You leave and return to Seren, who says that many of the resources necessary to rebuild the Elder Halls are in far-flung corners of the world and that her elves may need your assistance. She is using an Elder Artifact she's had for eons called The Codex to help construct the Elder Halls - it gives the layout and construction of Elder Halls and gives instructions on anima requirements and such. She says that to complete the Elder Halls, three other Elder Artifacts are needed - The Horn, The Hammer, and the Tok'Haar. The Horn is located in a dungeon deep inside The Arc. The Hammer is located on Abbinah and Seren suggests that Armadyl may be of help there.

In this part of the quest, you visit a ton of other worlds to gather the materials listed in The Codex, as well as completing a dungeon in the Arc to get the Horn, and traveling with Armadyl to Abbinah to get the Hammer. Throughout this journey, you are met with Tendrils of Xauros who fight you and try and talk you out of the journey you are on. On Abbinah, Xauros himself confronts you before you take The Hammer, and Armadyl serves as a diversion so you can escape with The Hammer, but Armadyl is ripped to shreds in the fight that follows.
You then get to work on constructing the new Elder Halls! The Hammer is used to build each part, and when you are finished, The Horn will summon the Elder Gods to the new Elder Halls. The Tok'Haar are also needed to construct parts of it. As you summon the Elder Gods, Xauros teleports in as well.
He mocks the others of the Elder Gods in their weakness and claims he is stronger than all of them combined. Seren jumps out and tells her brother to stop this nonsense at once. He laughs and says that she never did understand his true potential, that she was always holding him back. She yells that it doesn't have to end like this. That she loves him. Tendrils erupt from his hand, forming a sharp black crystaline blade that impales Seren. Love is for the weak, he says, as a tear rolls down her face and she shatters.

Kerapac enters, with The Hammer and Guthix's Blade in hand, stating that The Hammer was able to repair the Blade. He says they have lived long enough under the yoke of the Elders, and that such time is at an end. He cries that even if it means the end of everything, the Kin cannot live as slaves any longer. It is too much! Before you or the Elders can stop him, he plunges the Blade into the center of the Elder Halls, and the newly-built Elder Halls are ripped to shreds, sent hurling into a hundred different dimensions.
This is enough to ignite an all-out war. The Elder Gods engage with Xauros in an all-out fight, Gielinor as their battleground. In the ensuing blows, entire kingdoms are rendered asplinter as the entire landscape begins to disintigrate. Kerapac lies dead on the ground, the Elder Sword explosion having killed him. You grab the Elder Sword and rush towards Xauros. As you stab him with the Sword, he casts a beam at you, and the screen goes white...

You are in a dreamland again, this time with Zaros and Guthix. Zaros is furious about what has happened, and Guthix merely says what was meant to happen has happened. The Sword has done what it does best - open dimensions. The part of Xauros that was Zaros has been teleported into this pocket dimension with the True Essence of the World Guardian, a manifestation of Guthix's spirit. Guthix says that there comes a time in which it is appointed for all World Guardians to stand and become what they are meant to be - and this is that time. He fuses together with you, and you become a super-version of yourself (similar to touching the Stone of Jas, but much more so). You say that Zaros's reign is at an end, and the God of Fate will meet his today. Zaros laughs and says that he is the most supremely powerful being that the Universe has ever known, that no mere mortal (World Guardian or not) could ever hope to match, much less defeat, him! You take a combat stance, the Blade in-hand and yell to prove it. sTReTCh1028

This is it! The finale battle, between you and Zaros. The Blade can shoot energy as a Magic or Ranged user as well, not just Melee. With the power of Guthix surging through you, meeting your destiny of World Guardian is at hand! If you fail, simply enter the Needle's Remnants and try again. Succeed, and you have vanquished the worst foe the world has ever known!
As you defeat Zaros, the Dreamland fades, and the scene of you stabbing Xauros returns. Xauros grows white, exclaims that it's impossible and cannot be, and is literally torn into shreds, each piece hurling into a different dimension at the power of the Blade.
The Elder Gods are amazed at this turn of events and realize that even they could not have vanquished such a foe as easily. Jas commends the World Guardian and says any wish within their power is yours. You wish to heal Gielinor and bring back the dead. Jas says one wish is simple. Healing the world is something they can quickly and easily accomplish with the Tok'Haar, The Hammer, and the Needle's Remnants. However, Jas informs, where there is fated to be death, there will always be death. Even as an Elder God, creating life where death is meant is not possible. You are sad, but accept the wish.

The Elders decide that they can feast upon the far-flung remains of Xauros for the next cycle, and that the next Great Revision can be post-poned for another cycle, that this great experiment of Life may yet prove fruitful in their endeavors to survive. You are thanked by all of the Elders.
The Needle's Remnants can still be interacted with to visit the cutscenes and redoing battles. However, as the Elders fixed the world's destruction, the split caused by the Needle ceases to exist after the third quest.
Crisis averted, you lose your World Guardian status after this; you have done your task you were destined to do, and completed Guthix's will.
After this quest, the storyline of Runescape is essentially over! There will still be quests and such, but the overall over-arching story of Runescape will be finished at this point. After all, all good stories must come to an end!

Okay, so I realize most of this WON'T happen. It's just a crazy theory that my mind ran with. Enjoy :P

Dude that was so epic i loved that you included details like zaros babbling that it is his birthright to be an elder god. Despite this i never thought of runescape as a game that ends rather than one that will keep on going forever.
Anyway great story dont stop here.

I really like this theory actually! The only disappointing part is the villain-balling of Zaros, I definitely wish there could be a way into keeping him as a staunch ally, or we could serve him? I would not mind letting him/zammy/seren ascend to elder godhood to stop Xau-Tak/Jas. Maybe you could figure how to work in the Mahjarrat? They are my favorite part of the lore, and they have become divine beings at this point, I'd love to see their more active roles. The return to Teregrad was perfect, I am not aware if the Magister (Orm) was human when Saradomin was or not but it could be a cool interaction between them. The Guthix/ Zaros confrontation is a must, and I would like to see more of Seren and Armadyl working together too. Maybe figure out how to work in Tumeken? Temekel had prophesied the fall of Zaros, so it could be poetic that in the Elder God wars Tumeken gets his revenge for the Second Age conflict. All in all I loved this and must commend you on the thought you put into it.
