Remember Sliske had a tiny bit of the WG's soul. My own theory is that Sliske was able to incorporate this into himself somehow, or vice versa. So that piece of the WG's soul was restored/returned during the fight and mutual impaling and thus a part of Sliske lingers in that piece of soul, now in the player.

During runefest we were told that sliske feared the nothingness after death and in KS he was researching souls for that very reason. That's probably another reason why he grabbed Nomad after NE. His experiments to gain a soul were for nothing and eventually found that he could become part of another persons soul and that's how we got that ending. So here is a guess:
What if Sliske did die when we defeated him,
but
.... before dying he pulled a reverse zamorak and transmitted a copy of his consciousness inside us, as we know mahjarrat have no souls, so this might be more a case of passing his consciousness into us, the sliske we once new is dead, but a copy of him resides hidden inside our minds waiting to take control on key points, kinda like the return of joker in batman beyond.

Okay, so normally the only 'afterlife' the Mahjarrat have is those deathstones and their energies being divided among the other Mahjarrat. Obviously, becoming memories that recite how you died to those who encounter your stone and/or fueling the other Mahjarrat didn't appeal to Sliske.

My guess is that this whole thing with the Siphon was Sliske's backup plan. He's one of the smartest antagonists in all of RuneScape. Leagues smarter than Lucien, Bandos, Sigmund, King Lathas, Hreidmar, and a dozen more quest series antagonists put together. His dialogue shows him to be very Genre Savvy, as he mocks various tropes and cliches. So he knows that it's likely things will get dangerous for him, since he's set up a situation that will surely get a lot of powerful people mad at him.

So of course he had a Plan B, and maybe a Plan C as well. The setup to the Siphon might be one of his fallback plans. He KNOWS that the whole 'You defeated my enforcers. If you want something done right, do it yourself' bit is something that's been done several times before, and does that bit himself hoping to trick the World Guardian into thinking it's just your standard endgame boss battle. Unless I misinterpreted something, it's Sliske who introduces the Staff of Armadyl into the fight when it hadn't even been mentioned in the quest prior to that point.

Clearly, he had this worked out a long time in advance. The ending is a bit ambiguous: is he still inside the World Guardian or did he jump to Relomia? But clearly, like Zaros before him, he's still around in some condition or another, waiting for the right moment to once again meddle with the world.

This could open the possibility for a 'Batman: Arkham Knight' like story. Which seems fitting considering how The Joker and Sliske both have rather similar personalities. So it will be interesting to see how this plays out in future quests. Though this makes me wonder if we'll start hallucinating about Sliske.[/spoiler]

That's what I thought of too. "Now there's just a little bit of me in you too, bats! "

What better way to puppet the world from the shadows than for everyone to think you're dead? Genre savvy, indeed.

Yeah I dont understand. Mahjarrat dont have a soul and are suppose to face the void upon death. It was the one thing that made the rituals so....final.

Except they've established that Sliske has been trying to get a soul. At RuneFest, they explained that what he was doing in Kindred Spirits was essentially trying to make ourselves "compatible" with him, sort of like an organ transplant. As it turned out, that compatibility was even more than they seemed to admit. Although Sliske's body certainly died, he latched onto a part of our soul.

Indeed this is most likely what he was doing putting our soul fragment inside Nomad's body. Trying to prove his hypothesis as many people on this thread have stated.
The statement below is false.

So in short, he turned us into a kind of Horcrux. You have to admit it, Sliske has style. XD

So one day we'll wake up and find Mahjarrat scrambling in every direction to escape insane little us...and not a clue to what just happened.

Probably not? Well first you have to ask just how far Sliske's control can extend and if he is still in residence. If the WG power is directly linked to our intellect, then it could be he has or had no access to it. That would be reason enough to move on, a slippery knife is a dangerous thing.

If he does have access then he may try to find a way to extend that control to permentant, without risking us or someone else finishing him off. Then toddle off to ROFLstomp his competition.
