That's proof Angof is in denial, not that he can change his biological functions.
Runescape doesn't need a hero...it needs a villain. An all encompassing force of evil that will remain ever-threatening and use chaos to make the peoples of Gielinor tolerate each other, grow strong together, and fight side by side against this evil. I am that villain.
Personally, I think that Mahjarrat are practically made using a form of Divination using Mah's energy. The crystals may or may not have been around before Freneskae was revised, and Mah may have found them just before creating Zaros and Seren. This could mean that they are practically divine crystal simulacrums, while the Mahjarrat are pure Elder energy scraps from her growing more tired, while having dreams of Zaros and Seren.
This could mean that the Ritual Marker is the crystal gods' way of channelling that energy around. In Seren's case, she was trying to return the Mahjarrat to the source in order to keep Mah alive, while Zaros' marker is designed to share the energy among them. This energy share would allow them to grow stronger with each ritual, while letting them endure.

Considering he built it from their description of the Freneskae Marker, I highly doubt Zaros intended it to function differently, it just worked out that way without Mah being there.
Wahisietal's memory:
When some argued that a sacrifice ought still be made as part of our tradition, a further debate broke out about whether the sacrifice could meaningfully be performed in the absence of the volcano and marker stone.
Zaros seemed puzzled by our debate, but after Azzanandra explained the history and purpose of the Ritual of Rejuvenation he offered to create a replacement marker stone for us and expressed interest in observing.
If Enakhra is the last female Mahjarrat............................................
why don't one of the male Mahjarrat just shapeshift into a female like Angof? O_O
This would solve their extinction problem!
They are a race that shows no affection to one another, even among siblings like Wahisietal and Sliske, so it wouldn't matter if they need intimacy....
Considering how their only female is already too proud to get nasty with any of the current mahjarrat, do you really think any of them would lower themselves to
becoming
female (they like themselves just the way they are. Maybe a bit too much, those egotistical, megalomaniacal blighters...)
just to have some mahja-babies?
They'd sooner mate with those weak, puny humans and make more half-breeds like Lucien did than put up with each other's company.

You're assuming that the rules which govern Mahjarrat shapeshifting are the same as those for crystal shapeshifters. They are probably based off of the same, or a similar, concept (e.g. crystals), but one may be more limited than the other for various reasons.
I'm assuming that most shapeshifting in runescape is at least somewhat similar, but it was only one of my arguments
to be honest, they seem rather different actually. The crystal shapeshifters aren't really elves any more, they're something else... the faces they wear are just the ones they want to wear or the ones they're used to, not the faces they actually have. If they (usually) looked more like the ones in aog that'd be a bit more obvious, maybe

Haha, indeed. I see a lot of players here assuming majarrat are placental critters as well and not oviporous or ovuliparous. Or hell, marsupials. All we know is that they aren't reproducing because some how females must be involved in the process. What do we even know about the Ritual of Enervation? (LOL, the author of the wiki page speculates mahjarrat only breed during earthquakes.)
I vaguely remember JMod tweets about how cringeworthy the subject of mahjarrat reproduction got around the office some years ago. And eggs were at least considered. But, the cringe was too strong and overpowered any effort to clarify the lore.

Damn, you sure went through a lot of trouble just to prove you are one of the kool kids...

Well it sounds to me as if Mahjarrat reproduction needs a starting place, as no one seems to have decided and everyone is stuck on it being solely biological. What if it is far more Anima based than physical?
A mixing of energy, not forgetting that souls are generally anima based in RS. You might need to add a bit more physical spec or 2 that has to be infused to get self replication. The "female" would have to be able to gather, store and provide a lot of anima for a growing foetus. That would give us the weakening of females that has been observed.
Now that should allow shapeshifted Mahjarrat to errrr......hmm. . . . do business as usual.
It should also allow for Moia to come into existence. Though the toll taken on human females to produce such a spawn would be near catastrophic back then. At least the 6Th Age might have supplements that would make such an endeavour far easier now. It might also explain why no male Mahjarrat just shapeshifted to female. Maybe a "female" is far better equipped to survive that demand?
I think this theory covers the bases of what we've heard so far.
The purpose of adventure is to shine light into dark places,

To be honest, if Zaros becomes an elder, he could just make his own Mahjarrat.
I mean, with that power, he could probably make the player into a Mahjarrat *cough*hint*cough*.

What about the makeover mage's magic? He/She got his power from an extinct shapeshifting bird.
I worship Mah, for she is mah homegirl! The correct adjective for Mah's followers are: Mahomies, Mah-homeboys, or Mah-homegirls.
