This thread contains spoilers for a number of pieces of content.

For some time now we have been aware there are 12 artefacts created by the Elder Gods to aid in the creation of worlds in the Runescape cosmos and as such I thought it best to document their abilities and legacies. These tools as they were were used to refine the powers of the elemental Elder Gods and some were used in the creation of the perfect world known as Gielinor.

The exact purpose of most of these are currently unknown. In fact at least half of the artefacts we have no idea about. Each has a purpose, each has a side effect and some have been used in ways they were not meant to. All are of great importance to the story.

As more information is discovered the thread will be updated. I hope you will find it useful. Mod Osborne also posted on page 17.

The Catalyst

The most powerful of all Elder Artefacts has at least 4 names. It's most used name the Stone of Jas, The Fist of Guthix and the Eye of Saradomin. Abandoned by the Elder Gods after they had created the perfect world it was discovered by Guthix who used it to amplify his power immensely probably not realising the damage he was doing.

It has appeared throughout history granting both knowledge and power to it's weilders and is responsible for the art of magic and runecrafting at least for humans. It can be used to heal and amplify powers and it leaks magical energy. It has left imprints of this energy in the forms of The Tears of Guthix, The Fist of Guthix, The Imprint in the Glacor Cave and Daeyalt Ore.

It has been used by Guthix, Saradom, Zamorak, Lucien, Sliske, The Kethsian Mage Conclave, V______ and the Stonetoucher. This has caused the safety mechanist, The Dragonkin, to grow in power over the millenia. Though Sliske and Guthix seem to have drawn only knowledge and not power having no effect on the Kin.

The Dragonkin are many in number and are enraged when the stone is used. They gain power in proportion to the power the user of the stone receives in order to go stop the user. They themselves were created by the power of the stone and in Runescape creating life is not a mean feat.

The blatant abuse of the stone has left the world in danger thankfully Thaerisk managed to cast a spell to hide the stone after we foolishly dislodged the Balance Elemental. With the gods returned how long will it take the stone to be abused once more and endanger us all?

Sliske is offering it as a prize in an all out war of the gods. How similar to what the war in the third age was fought over.

Since Fate of the Gods we have learned it is an altered Elder God egg. It stores Jas' energy and was used to create the other Elder Artefacts according to the official wiki.

The Siphon

Otherwise known as the Staff of Armadyl is one of the most significant artefacts in the lore of Gielinor. Guthix learned of it upon his arrival to Gielinor along with the Horn and the Stone and presumably the Kiln. He wanted to keep them safe however he slept at the end of the first age.

During the second age the god Armadyl arrived on the plane and somehow gained the staff for his own use. He placed an orb of his own atop the staff to increase it's power and his followers began to use part of the staff as his symbol.

Armadyl left the staff under guard but eventually the god Zamorak gained it through the efforts of many and hid it from Zaros using magic. He then struck against his god with the power of the stone and the staff and managed to impale him. Zaros however proved too strong and defeated Zamorak before tripping and impaling them both at the same time. The staff acted as conduit and siphoned power from Zaros to Zamorak.

It seems Armadyl then reclaimed the staff and once again guarded it. When Armadyl left at the end of the god wars he visited many planes and wished he had his staff to breathe life into the plane suggesting it has some life giving ability.

Additionally Sliske used it to trace the link between the Dragonkin and the Stone of Jas allegedly and that it was quite versatile.

The Siphon can fuse elements together making it the counterpart to the Blade. The negative element of the Siphon is unknown though from Mahjarrat Memories, Lucien's theory on the Shadow Realm ghosts like Viggora may hint at a negative.

It is said that if Zaros had gained the power of this artefact he would have been unstoppable. It was also the weapon used by Sliske to kill Guthix thus breaking the edicts allowing the gods to return.

The Horn

Also known as the Horn of Quin, we first learned of this artefact through the memories of Guthix. He learned of the horn when he arrived on Gielinor and swore to protect it. However he slept at the end of first age and what happened to it is unknown.

Since then it appears another god aquired it and moved it offworld where it ended up in the hands of Marimbo as she ascended. From there we have no idea what happened. On the 21st of August Mod Osborne confirmed on a livestream that it is indeed Quin's Horn.

From the official wiki we are told this is used to communicate with and control the TokHaar which presumably gives control over other creatures as well. Whether it has other powers remains to be seen.

The negative aspect of the horn is undetermined.

The Kiln

The Elder Kiln and the TokHaar are one and they together form an elder artefact. Used to create the mountains of Gielinor each TokHaar is specialised. The kiln is fueled by the sacred lava of creation and it allows for TokHaar to live eternal lives.

They share the thoughts of one another and their knowledge expands when creatures pollute the sacred lava by adding the knowledge of the creatures to their own. This polluted their resolve however.

A fairly imobile artefact it was created by Ful. Unlike the Stone the TokHaar are not designed as a failsafe but as part of the creation of the world. The negative side of this artefact is currently unknown.

Zamorak has tried to gain the artefact in order to create an army but was unsuccessful and other than it's use in the creation of the world it has been largely unused. The gods may see it as unimportant in the grand scheme of things suggesting it is a less powerful artefact at least compared to those created by Jas.

As of "One of a Kind" we know the Mysterious Statues and the Sleeper may also be considered one with this artefact.

The Locator

The Crown Archival is an Elder Artefact that was not on Gielinor when Guthix first arrived at the beginning of the first age. We first learned about it during The Tribute to Guthix event organised by the druids where we captured some of Guthix's power and got a glimpse of his memories back on the Naragi Plane.

It is worn by Saradomin, god of wisdom and light, and it has the power to locate other Elder Artefacts. It is also likely the source of Saradomin's ascention from human to god.

The negative side to this artefact is that it allows weilders of other artefacts to locate it. This attribute has caused god wars to erupt over at least two planes if not more. In addition to attracting other artefacts to it the official wiki claims it attracts Elder Gods to it. Thus allowing it to be found if lost and then allowing others to be found if lost.

It was abandoned early on by the Elder Gods as they saw no need to try locate the other elder artefacts. Give what it does it is likely one of the least powerful artefacts in existance with some non-elder artefacts easily rivaling it in terms of power.

The Blade

This artefact is also known as Guthix's Sword. The sword was first shown to us in "The World Wakes" at the entrance of the resting place of Guthix. It is currently broken and unusable.

Guthix first got a hold of it when Skargaroth and Tuska fought and Skargaroth dropped the sword. He then stabbed Tuska's eye and killed Skargaroth gaining his initial godly powers.

The sword was then used by Guthix to create portals and go from world to world. He visited many worlds and then came across Gielinor where he found other artefacts. Guthix cut deep with this sword to create the World Gate, an immensely powerful portal capable of reaching all worlds. He did so again, however this time he cut into the void shattering the sword.

In addition to creating portals it can seperate elements with precision as we learned from the official wiki.

What this swords use in creating worlds was is unknown but it was left behind by the Elder Gods at one point and therefore was considered obsolete. The negative side of this artefact is also unknown. Cutting into the void may be counted as a negative affect though as it allows the pests from another universe into ours.

The Measure

This artefact appears to be the weakest of the twelve. It can detect divine energy allowing those skilled at divination to manipulate the energy in addition to measuring the amount of Anima possessed by a world. We learned of it in "Fate of the Gods" where we used it to collect energy from Mah.

The World Guardian is currently in possession of this artefact though whether they will find another use for it is questionable.

The downsides of this artefact are as of yet unknown.

Unknown Artefact

Not much is known about this artefact however Armadyl will not speak of it. It was one step on his road to ascention.

This artefact will be revealed in "Rite of Passage".
