In case you're interested:

It is implied during TWW that only elder artifacts are actually able to make Gods perish. Which would be strange considering that Zaros isn't actually dead. The problem is in the same manner that Azzandra claims to be able to counter the power of the staff Zaros should be able to do it too, even more efficiently. But why did Guthix die when he says he is the most powerful being to ever set foot in Gielinor, it's rather simple, Guthix actually had to let himself be killed so that he wouldn't break his own edicts as preventing his own death would have made him interfere in the world and thus disrupting the balance.

Edit: On the other hand Guthix has intervened in the world before, but by his speech I think he had realized that he had became what he despised and needed someway of maintaining the edicts, although not really, in a way that he wouldn't need to intervene further, and thus we have 'substituted' Guthix in maintaining a God free world. This is getting a bit off-topic so I will stop now...

The thing is, Zaros didn't want to die and I believe Guthix accepted his demise once he realized what his options were: Either die or kill his assailants (breaking the edicts). What I'm not sure is if we can consider him intervening in the world as actually breaking the edicts as this action, killing Sliske and the others, would have maintained them.

ok so SoA is a confirmed Elder weapon, Armadyl claimed it some time and his followers took on the symbol that was on it (ARmadyl might have been a normal Aviansie, something like Kree'Arra)

Also, Zaros has the power to get out of his own body, so when Zamorak impaled him his 'soul' or whatever just went to another dimension, where it is weakened but alive. Guthix accepted his demise and did nothing.
