Okay so the May trailer really has me excited lore-wise, hence me posting on this thread. We finally see the main story continue, having to proof the worth of all life against the elder gods or risk it all being "revisioned".

The trailer was purposely vague on what will be happening the next couple of months, but I wanted to give my best guess and see how close I was once the actual updates are released.

So this month's quest revolves around Seren gathering the people of Gielinor in an attempt to find a way to meet the demands of the Elder Gods, ie. proofing that life is worthy to keep existing. Mod Osborne mentioned that inhabitants of Gielinor are divided on how to go about doing this.

Particularly one individual has a different proposal.
I am fairly certain that this individual is
Zaros
: we have seen to what extent he has become obsessed with becoming an elder god, as it would grant him unrivaled control over Gielinor. Yet he was rejected when asking the elder gods this gift ( a flame can never be a star, no matter how bright it burns ). I bet this made Zaros resent the Elder Gods.

I guess Zaros wants to overthrow the Elder Gods, and that this will start a World Event that will last the summer. Remember that concept art of Zaros facing off against Bik (way back in 2017)? I suggest that is what will be happening, and we as the inhabitants of Gielinor have to either band together and show the Elder Gods that this is not what we want (we want peace) or perhaps we might even help Zaros achieve his goals.
Zaros is an ant against the Elder Gods however, so what leverage might he have? Remember that Zaros has obtained something from Mah after Children of Mah ? This might be the time he actually will be using it.

Anyways this is my guess, and if it is anything close to what I expect this will be a good time to be a lorehound!

I don't know if this is the right place to post, but I had a random question. Is there an intelligent race in RuneScape that can shapeshift? Would elves be able to do that stuff?

Yup! My first thought would be the Mahjarrat, of which Wahisietel, Kharsai, Lucien and Azzanadra have been shown to shapeshift into humans, and Jhallan who shapeshifted into a nightmare creature. Their shapeshifting abilities earned the Mahjarrat the name " the faceless ones " when first arriving to Gielinor.

But as you mentioned, elves can shapeshift as well. A well known example are the members of the Cywir clan, of which Helwyr can be seen shapeshifting into a wolf/bear/deer combination when fought in the god wars dungeon 2.
The Crwys clanleader was shapeshifted into a tree during the Plagues end quest.
There are also Elves that are called shapeshifters but this is more in a literal sense, as they have mutated due to using crystals in an attempt to remedy the affliction caused by Seren. Over time these crystals mutated them so that their bodies literally shapeshift.

To go even further, it can be argued that gods can shapeshift: Saradomin and Armadyl have 'updated' their looks over time, completely changing their appearance.

Vampyres like Vanescula could be argued to have somewhat shapeshifting powers, in that they can shift between their human and vampyric look. But this is not true shapeshifting in my opinion.

There might be more examples out there but there are definitely races capable of shapeshifting in Gielinor.

Cool thanks for the reply :P I'm just starting to get into roleplay and thought it would be cool to play a spy character eventually, if story has an opening by the time I'm done haha

I'm probably gonna keep coming back with more questions haha. I have almost no knowledge of RuneScape lore because I dislike quests :P Is there more than 2 gangs in Varrock? Which one has more violent tendencies do you think?

Vampyres are definitely shapeshifters, apart form having a humanoid and a vampyric form. For instance, Vanstrom and Vanescula have disguised themselves as humans.

I guess werewolves are shapeshifters, but not sure if lycanthropy counts. Reborn creatures?

Are we talking about shapeshifting using your own power? or thru means such as herblore or external magic?

You can use the makeover mage to change gender. You also use a potion to become a goblin. And a potion to shrink to the size of a mouse.
And you are human. (I'd assume other races have done similar things)
