Fortification could be Runescapes newest skill allowing adventurers to hone their skills to new levels and create enhanced armor, weapons, and tools. Adventurers who advance in fortification will learn new methods of crating, smithing, and fletching to create fortified amour, weapons, and tools. Meet Jack and his professors in the Lumbridge fortification camp to begin your lessons today.

Training Fortification:
1) Request a lesson from the headmaster or professors.
Headmaster can assign lessons (tasks) of Crafting, Smithing, or Fletching; additionally Headmaster lessons reward additional fortification points.
Professors specialize in crafting, fletching, or smithing; each professor can assign lessons (tasks) in their specialty skill.
2) When an adventure requests a lesson they will be assigned a test to hone their skills. Lessons will be an assigned numbers of items to create. Creating assigned items will reward full experience in the skill as well as experience in the fortification skill. Creating standard items will grant 20% experience of base creation experience in the fortification skill and 100% experience in the base skill. Creating Fortified variants of items will grant 40% experience of base creation skill in the fortification skill and 150% of the base creation experience.
Ex 1. Lesson: Smith 48 plate bodies.
Ex 2. Lesson: Craft 67 vambraces.
Ex 3. Lesson: Fletch 51 longbows.
Ex 4. Lesson: Smith 160 axes.
Ex 5. Lesson: Fletch 140 harpoons.
Ex 6. Lesson: Craft 36 bodies.
Ex 7. Lesson: Smith 51 battleaxes.
Ex 8. Lesson: Fletch 66 wood shields.
Ex 9. Lesson: Craft 140 rings.

More ideas on the Fortification skill to follow in more posts (character limit).

3) Completing lessons- Complete lessons by creating the number of items assigned. Items created will reduce the assigned number in a 1-to-1 ratio for both standard and fortified items. Creating a standard variant will consume resources as normal. Creating fortified items can be created in two ways; -Standard resource + fortification resource material- or -2X standard resource-. Crafting fortified items with -2X standard resource- can only be done at the fortifiers anvil, furnace, crafting table, and fletchers station. Crafting fortified items with -standard resource + fortification materials- can be done anywhere (all standard anvils and furnaces as well backpack actions). Only items created while an adventurer is assigned a lesson will count toward their lesson. Only items specified in the lesson will count towards the assignment. Only items created to complete a lesson will grant fortification experience.
Ex 1. Smithing fortified daggers: ‘1 bronze bar + 1 bronze chunk’ or ‘2 bronze bars’ at fortifier’s anvil. Rewarding- 18.75 Smithing xp and 5 Fortification xp.
Ex 2. Smithing fortified platebodies: ‘5 adamant bars + 5 adamant chunk’ or ’10 adamant bars’ at fortifiers anvil. Rewarding- 468.75 Smithing xp and 125 Fortification xp.
Ex 3. Smithing Fortified Warhammers: ‘3 mithril bars + 3 mithril chunk’ or ‘6 mithril bars’ at fortifier’s anvil. Rewarding- 337.5 Smithing xp and 90 Fortification xp.
Ex 4. Crafting fortified bodies: ‘3 Blue dragon leather + 3 blue hide strips’ or ‘6 blue dragon leather’ at fortifier’s crafting table. Rewarding- 315 crafting xp and 84 fortification xp.
Ex 5. Crafting fortified bodies: ‘ 5 Xerician fabric + 5 Xerician cloth’ or ‘ 10 Xerician fabric’ at fortifier’s crafting table. Rewarding- 165 crafting xp and 44 fortification xp.
Ex 6. Crafting fortified bodies: ‘4 bark + 4 fine cloth + 4 splirtbark cloth’ or ‘8 bark + 8 fine cloth’ at fortifier’s crafting table. Rewarding- 372 crafting xp and 99.2 fortification xp.

Odd interactions:

Ex1c. Yew tool-handle+ adamant axe head= adamant axe
Ex1d. Fortified yew tool-handle + fortified adamant axe head= fortified adamant axe
Ex1info. Both standard and fortified combinations will count towards lesson counters.

Ex2a. Fortified oak shield + (>1 hard leather + <1 hard leather strips + >15 bronze nails)= hard leather shield. (only 2 hard leather + 15 bronze nails consumed)
Ex2b. Oak shield + (>1 hard leather + >1 hard leather straps + >30 bronze nails)= hard leather shield (only 2 hard leather + 15 bronze nails consumed)
Ex2c. Fortified oak shield + (>1 hard leather +>1 hard leather strips + >30 bronze nails)= Fortified oak shield
Ex2e. Crafting at fortifier’s crafting station: Fortified oak shield + (>2 hard leather + >30 bronze nails)= Fortified oak shield
Ex2info. Crafting at fortifier’s crafting station: The use of fortification materials will be prioritized. If an adventurer runs out of fortification materials they will stop processing items. Adventurers will be warned that they do not have fortification materials and will use 2x the resources to process items; players will click to continue- this waring should be togglable.

2- lesson item mixing. Choosing to change tiers of material in the middle of a task will continue to count. The lessons will specify the type of item to make not the specific material. Both standard variants and fortified variants of items will count towards lesson counters. Making items that are not part of your lesson will not interrupt your lesson counter. Only items created for a lesson will count towards lesson counters.
3-
Ex1. An adventures is assigned a lesson to smith 100 daggers: they smith 10 bronze daggers, 10 fortified bronze daggers, and 80 steel daggers. This adventurer completed their lesson and is rewarded with fortifiers points; they may now receive a new lesson assignment.

Ex2. An adventurer is assigned a lesson to fletch 75 shortbows: they fletch 50 fortified magic short bows(u) and check their lesson counter. The counter will say 75 short bows assigned (50/75) cut (0/75) strung. The player then fletches 50 fortified yew short bow(u); however the player was interrupted after fletching 25 fortified yew short bows(u) and is informed they have reached the amount of short bows(u) for the lesson and will no longer receive fortification xp, this player continues and fletches the additional 25 fortified yew shortbows(u). The player now has 50 (f) magic short bows(u) and 50 (f) yew short bows(u) and checks their lesson counter it says: 75 short bows (75/75) cut (0/75) strung. The player then runs to the G.E or their bank and gets 70 oak short bows(u) and strings them. The player now has 50 (f) magic short bows(u), 50 (f) yew short bows(u), and 70 oak short bows; they check their lesson counter, and it says: 75 short bows assigned (75/75) cut (70/75) strung. The player then decides to string 5 (f) magic short bows(u); they then receive a notification they completed their lesson and are rewarded with fortification points. The player DOES NOT get another lesson for creating short bows and decides to string the remaining 45 (f) magic short bows(u); The player receives full fletching experience and ZERO fortification experience. Thank you,
