I disagree. I think it's very well balanced. It's not the fastest method, karambwans are way faster, and they require a lot of attention. Plus, the other methods break even or profit.
I got 99 cooking with no burn fish because I preferred the slower afk way. But by no means was it slow exp.
I think cooking is very well balanced. Tho a minigames a la the mess hall but more fully developed could be cute
Seriously? When has wine ever been worth more than the grapes? Even in the beginning the wine was nothing more than a way to get exps, not something to sell. Even back in the early days of rs2, it was worth less than the grapes, even before the ge.

I think it’s fine to have one skill like this. It gives newer players something to strive for - an easier, reasonable 99 to grind for.
The “grind” is absolutely broken.
Summer pies require level 95 cooking to make, yielding 450k experience per hour (also requires membership to cook.)
Jugs of wine require level 35 to make, yielding 490k experience per hour (does NOT require membership.)
And jugs of wine are
cheaper
to make than summer pies.
That is, you will LOSE more money making summer pies than you will making jugs of wine in addition to summer pies also giving you slower EXP rates.
And the cost issue is a lot worse than you think.
The amount of money you will lose cooking summer pies is
5.6 times more
than making wines.
So it’s not like pies are twice as expensive.. they are
5.6 times more expensive
The reason for this is from bot farms collecting grapes + jugs of water to sell on the grand exchange which widens the gap even further.
The game was never intended to be this way when it was designed, and it does NOT make the game better.

I think its rather difficult to fix how legacy issues like this when they evolve poorly as highlighted in this thread. Especially if they involve bots flooding the market with certain items.
I think cooking has numerous cheapish/quick routes to 99 even if the wines method didn't exist. The nature of the skill was always bound to make it one of the easier ones.

No. If you
BUY
the already made raw summer pie, you lose money.
Strawberry cost 137
pie dish cost 29
pastry dough cost 147
watermelon cost 26
cooking apple cost 62
total cost 401
(ge prices)
summer pie sells for 659 (ge) for a
PROFIT
of 258 GP
1 grape cost 10 gp
1 jug of water cost 20 gp
wine sells for 2 gps
FOR A
LOSS
of 28 gp.
In addition, at 35, you are going to lose 40% of your wine attempts. That means that for 10 attempts, it will cost you 300 and you will only be able to make back 12 gp for a loss of 288 gp for 1200 exps. That means you get 4 exp. per gp.
Yes, you can use the wine to get your levels, but you pay for it. NO ONE does that.
Considering how hard it is to make money in f2p (I would assume your complaint is that it can be done in f2p), I doubt anyone in f2p is going to spend 2 million to get to 99 when they can do it for a profit otherwise.
