I don't think it would really cause any extra issues with exploiting modding controllers. There are already auto-clickers out there, and anything that's not 1 input:1 output is against their TOS. I really don't understand the problem with just letting us use a 3rd party program to play their game. They already let us use RuneLite, which technically modifies input to the game with shift-click options. CHECKMATE. I literally just want to be able to play the game like I used to without having to worry about causing further strain to my nerve.
My setup was using x to right click, a to left click. b was escape, y is spellbook fkey, start was inventory fkey, d-pad was 1-4 for chat options, right trigger was space also for chat options. I don't remember the others, but it was honestly pretty nice for doing most things. I think pvmers could do most content with a controller.
Sorry if it seems like a rant at you, it's not. I'm just frustrated by how long I've supported this game, but they wouldn't even consider taking a look at their TOS and seeing if there was some compromise we could come to. I've probably honestly put enough money into this game between membership payments, and MTX to pay for controller support by myself.
I've got the 5 year crown on this account, probably higher ones by now, but I mostly play OSRS now so I haven't checked. Also that didn't even become a thing until years after I started playing. Being extremely generous with the amount of years I've paid for membership and assuming it's 5, that math looks like 5 x 12 = 60, so 60 months x $9.99 = $599.40. The fact that membership was cheaper when I first started playing probably offsets a bit of the estimations. That's not even counting MTX that I bought when I had nothing better to spend my money on at the time.
I don't think controller support would cost more than $600, and ,even if it did, looking at the TOS and changing their outlook on 3rd party programs would surely be cheaper. Currency is USD
