I hated summoning. I don't think it was "literally the best skill". It was easily one of my least favorites. That aside, if it was a watered down version (8 slot beast of burdens MAX), it would be balanced enough and not make bossing, etc too easy. If it was done in a way where you tamed animals, I might even like it

Well, there was a whole taming animals part to it with the non-combat pets. In a lot of cases, you could catch animals straight from the wild. Squirrels, Raccoons, Geckos etc.

Also, since a lot of criticism on it being overpowered comes from the Beast of Burden, I think a nerf like 8 slot max would be a good middle ground.

Personally, I think having more inventory would remove a level of monotonous grind the game has but I realize that this community holds tedious busy work and bragging rights over actual fun gameplay so sacrifices must be made to quell the fires.

i don't remember that part of summoning. That sounds pretty cool. If it's released , we should should definitely have more to the skill than just getting charms and making pouches or whatever. I'd like to see it focused a lot on taming, and more of the summoning process over getting charms.

It's not the grind we don't like. We don't want the insane powercreep and the making every skill/boss significantly easier. If it's balanced, I think people would be fine. We just have memories of pack yaks and stuff that made bossing almost twice as easy. It basically made the end game mid game, and led to all the other OP crap we had to replace the end game. Powercreeps should be slow.

Summoning was misery to train and provided benefits that greatly shifted the core of the combat system. I do not miss it and would not be eager to see it make a return.

I'm not opposed to content from later in the game's life, either; there's quite a bit of decent content from post-King's Ransom that I'd be entirely fine with or even actively want. But even in the not-so-olden days of 2010 and 2011, I loathed dealing with Summoning and tried to bypass it as much as possible. It was easily my least favorite skill in the game when I stopped playing, with only Herblore and Agility even coming close.

I'd take Dungeoneering a thousand times over Summoning; I don't really want to see either skill in this game, but if I had to pick one, at least Dungeoneering was fairly entertaining even if it didn't really feel like a skill (and let's be honest here, Raids are pretty much just the skill by another name anyway). Summoning combined the worst aspects of Prayer, Construction, and Runecrafting and I never want to deal with that grind again.

Well, that's just like, your opinion, man.

No, if this gets added I'm quitting.

Reason? Unbalanced.

And btw to answer your first point, this game started going way downhill in December 2007. Summoning just added fuel to the fire in early 2008.
Long live the Wilderness. Long live risk vs reward in PVM. Long live 2006.
