The Grand Exchange has existed for a while in osrs. There are many benefits to having a quick way to trade items, but the GE also hurts the game by making some items worth a lot more than they would be otherwise. These are items like yew logs, gems, runes, high alchemy items and some others I am sure I have forgotten. I played osrs before the GE and had a fine time navigating the game and using the forums to get items I needed. I was able to make money doing sometimes tedious skills, such as fletching and crafting, that I am now losing money in recent times since the GE has inflated prices on certain items.
This means that the gathering skills are able to make more money, which are wc, fishing, mining, hunter etc. Then the creation skills like crafting, fletching, construction take the hit. The gatherer skills are the ones that are more likely to be botted from what I have seen. This gives these bots more power making these items easily dumped off into the GE to cover their tracks. They could even just set the items in the GE for higher than market value and just wait it out without doing any work, which leads to the increases in the base value of these items. If the GE was removed, they would have to find another way to sell their items, perhaps giving it off to another account to sell or posting on the forums. I think the bots would be easier to be caught if they did not have the GE because of the necessity for moving their items through another player or by constantly having to post. At the very least, it makes the untrustworthy, disgraceful players that use bots have to do more work.
This is my proposal to remove the GE. Perhaps others might feel the same way if it was discussed more so I am just putting out my shallow argument that can go much deeper with more thought.
