Idea: PvP pickpocketing.
Explanation:
You buy tokens from an npc for say 100k gp and can pickpocket other players or be pickpocketed by them, as long as you have them in inventory.
A succesful pickpocket can maxially double your tokens. So if A has 5 tokens and pickpockets B with 7 tokens, A ends with 10 and B with 2.
After a succesful pickpocket you cannot open your bank for a set amount of time and are teleblocked (does this favor high agility and ring of endurance? well yes, it was never meant to be completely fair).
The player who's stolen from receives a notification they've been robbed (optionally, by sacrificing some tokens you can label the rest, which means the notification you've been robbed includes the name of the perp).
Succes chance and defence from others scales with thieving level.
What I see happening e.g. at the GE is random bursts of people pickpocketing each other. Once people see this going on, they might be tempted to take their tokens from the bank and join.
I have not foreseen all implications this has for gambling, cheating, luring etc. Perhaps it is safer to make it about some (semi-)cosmetic instead of gp, such as thieving crowns of different tiers. This would immediately serve as a visual indicator of who is a pickpocketing target. Wearing such a crown could come with the benefit of an invisible thieving level boost, enhancing common methods like elves. So good luck finding a spot where you feel confident to wear your crown.
