The answer to hacker's getting on accounts and being able to take things....
We know that people still get hacked with 2 step auth on their email and authenticator, but people still get around them. I have been playing for about 15-18 years now. I suggested this when I got hacked long long ago, maybe 12 years ago now. So, having authenticator on and 2 step on my email, I have once been compromised and lost what was equipped and in my inventory. The answer to this....
BEFORE TRADING, DROPPING or ANY MEANS OF GIVING ANOTHER ACCOUNT MONEY/ITEMS, have the same bank based pin coded in so they would need a pin to just be able to trade, tip jars on houses, any way of giving money away. Yes. You can bank items before logging. But, sometimes you just don't have that option. It was coded in when lending came out pre-eoc where you couldn't lend without a pin, ect. (If I remember correctly). This would make hacking accounts basically useless.
For the sake of time spent coding this in, I HONESTLY would be willing to code this myself for Jagex, not only for Old School, but RS3 aswell. Please. Once an account is compromised, the information is there for it to happen again. This would make every one of them account more secure than they've ever been and give peace of mind. The random algorithm bank pin is about as secure as you can get when it comes to keeping your stuff safe.
As a true veteran of RuneScape, please. Do this. It would stop everything from random hackers and also phishing hackers getting in game items, also, would stop them from using hacked accounts to stop RWT. I really hope someone sees this and implements it, and maybe give me a little credit. If you dig far enough back, about 10-15 years back, when suggestions we're sent through a form you'd fill out, you will see I suggested this that far back.
Please put this in the game. Anyone with their account hacked, with their items on them, will thank you....
