I think everyone has now seen the crazy bond prices. And realized how much the game has been deflating over the 3-4 years. Osmuntens Fang, arguably the best weapon in dt2 and in game costs now a easily 35 mil. 35 mil for the best weapon in the game easy. Whip prices have fallen hard. There is no really need for the abyssal tentacle.

Rapier the previous good weapon went from 200mil to 41 mil. From the realease of toa to today.
The best in slot magic weapon in pvm, only 600gp per charge.

Even the Soulreaper axe, that is said to be the next bis for dt2 bosses and pvm general, 250m.

Range was Ok for a while with the twisted bow, then just sudden a new bow comes out, bowfa. Destroying the whole meta. Today for the easy price of 200 mil ish(includes corrupted version)

And how i could i not forget, the new magic armor, Virtus? Easy 80 mil for the whole armor, Almost bis. Loses 3% damage.

And then to the biggest deflation factors. Non degradable armor. (this includes bowfa) The fact that Jagex has completely abonded "degrading". Is proof that they have taken a whole new direction with the game.

Bis gear? Just upgrade it from previous armors no biggie.

I mean it is crazy how everybody just accepts it and moves on. BIS should be degradable, why? Cus it would improve so much the economy. It would give reason to do bandos again and Armdyl, More activity in priff. Make skilling viable, but no.

For proof look no further than Zulrah. BIS was degradable. Serp, blow, and swamp staff. Bond price? about 3-4 mil. Stable.

Then after that everything became non degrading. Neiznot faceguard. Even the fang and the soulreaper axe. No degrading.

Am i crazy? or did everything go downhill after 2017-18

We know some items have their prices artificially inflated by the GE tax scheme. It is not even a conspiracy. The issue is there is only a limited supply of GE tax, especially when there are way, way more big ticket items entering the market with similar or even less players buying them. The GE tax bail out fund is far from able to jack up the prices of all new and old big ticket items. Some of them, or a lot of them are poised to go down.

The actual conspiracy theory is probably on some items with "sentimental values" (or perhaps more precisely items certain group of players have been hording) like Tbows or even uptradeable ones like Infernal Capes. Don't expect these items getting devaluated naturally by other new BiS items. See? When they have to artificially inflate the old tbows and the likes, new items, even when they are equally or even more BiS than the old one have to fall.

So why did they stop making items degredable. In my opinion having the demand high would help the economy so much.

ge tax thats where gp gets removed from the game. degradeable armour is such a small amount of gp it became null
200m all RS3 on 7/3/19
1.2Billion overall Slayer xp / Ultimate slayer title

OSRS 2277/2277 Untrim slayer cape
Hail Satan, He loves for who you are.

Making items degradeable won't increase their demand at all. If they can be repaired I still only need one. If they degrade to dust, then I probably won't even bother to buy them as the cost of owning a temporary item will not justify getting a lower tier permanent item.

To increase demand of an item, you need justifications of buying the items, not just it is "BiS" and not impactful to gameplay, degradeable or not. And this is really an issue of OSRS's failed fiscal policy. They have publicly bailed out old "iconic" items like Tbows and Infernal Capes. There is really no reason for players not to farm and sell those antiquated items for the OSRS supported better gp/hr and lower cost/hr than anything "new".

OSRS's Jenga economy failed, but it is no conspiracy as they have publicly told us their Invisible Hand is absolutely moving the OSRS market which is supposed to be player driven.

Once upon a time like 6+ years ago, Tbow was the most expensive gear in the game at 1.4 bil. Today, it is still at 1.4 bil each despite gp becomes worth less than it was (but I am notsure if the game actually grew).

The reason? The OSRS GE Tax bailout Jenga scheme as I mentioned. Before that, Tbow fell go the 800 mil range but OSRS artificially supported it among some other items.

Addy 2h is worthless because it wasn't the item OSRS artificially inflated, so it is allowed to fall with new items being released.

You are not crazy, but I think you should try going down the Ironman route.

During the release, I farmed black masks and selling them 1M each. I got very lucky and made bank (back when GP was scarse). Sometime later, the prices dropped by almost half and I was livid about it, and I foolishly called for black masks to be made degradable; my justification was because it was too useful. However the truth is that I wanted to enrich myself doing an activity I found to be easy.

I didn't appericite what I had and if there was anything I wanted I could farm GP until I could afford it and buy it. I was always afriad to go DKS and so if I wanted any of the uniques, I'd simply buy them to avoid the boss content, and I'd tell myself that I had better things to do with my time.

Moreover, I started killing older bosses using newer equipment and thinking I was actually good at the game, when the opposite was true. I brought the meta from other players who were good at the game, and I put it to work clubbing seals. Upon realising this, I quitted my main and took a long hiatus. When I came back, I decided to try going down the Ironman route.

A few months ago, I went DKS and killed all three bosses with a granite body, black d'hide chaps, rune c'bow, and other low end equipment (that still serves as my BIS). I got a warrior ring and I was happy to get it. I don't care what the GE thinks of it, and it didn't bother me it wasn't a berserker ring. Until that point, the BIS ring I had was a ring of wealth, and so unique drops (even the bad ones) have sentimental value to me. I now own a beserker ring and two warrior rings, and I'll still play around with either extra max hit or more accuracy.

I'm playing the game for realz and it's actually really fun. The only unfun thing bringing me down are all the bots! They're at demonic gorillas, lizard shamans, and all the other PVM hotspots. I'm not annoyed they're devaluing drops; I'm annoying they're stealing my kills.

Bots too. That wont be getting fixed.

i wont really go ironman cus it is pretty time draining.

the bond could soon hit 9 mil.

phatom muspah is released, 150k per kill.

You could literally get a 1 million drop as in dragon platelegs from 2 dt2 bosses.

"but, ge tax thats where the gp gets removed"

Bots too, yes, but TBH, the OSRS economy no longer exists when OSRS pretty much fixed the prices of selected items and everything else is just afterthoughts if not crap.

No, nothing will be fixed because it can't be fixed. You mentioned the Ranged meta. This is actually an example we can see why nothing can be fixed. Yes, Bowfa came out and changed the meta of Ranged, and therefore should have affected the price of Tbow significantly too. But look at tbow still sitting at 1.4 bil price while Bowfa actually dropped to 100 mil (not 200 mil) already. It is an extremely clear illustration tbow doesn't worth the 1.4 bil price with natural demand. It is 1.4 bil each only because OSRS want them to stay at that price. So everything else ranged including the very viable bowFa can't be 1.4 bil each, and be happy to get the cystal shards for making one for only 100 mil gp rather.

On the other hand, when players know OSRS are hard pressed fixing tbows at 1.4 bil each, the smarter ones will probably just ignore all new or what OSRS call "bis" content and items but in reality gives far less gp/hr, and go farm CoX for tbows with a 100 mil gp bowFa and get heaps of tbows that are guaranteed implicitly by OSRS for 1.3 to 1.4 bil gp each. Why grind for crystal shards that sell for peanuts when the ancient content with the same old ancient lower requirements to get always sell for 1.4 bil gp? :D

It won't matter whatever new come out and where, they are going to be unworthy. DT2? Sailing? Varlamore? They are just some unworthy skins because we know only the likes of "iconic" old items like Tbows matter.
