"Big loss for bots today. Not a loss for humans. Human miners can still mine amethyst and motherlode for faster xp that doesn't require a lot of attention.

Physical automation is still automation. Taping down spacebar while you sleep is against the rules."

Not true. Bots can always be programmed to click again AFAIK when they can resume to gain xp, but humans can't.

Nowhere did I mention anything about physical automation or taping down spacebar.

The issue is they should not have given us xp for Duke Mining if they didn't intend it to be a method for training mining. .

yeah man they realised their mistake and fixed it.

its call an oversight....

lol in a perfect world fixes wouldnt need to happen. but in this case it was needed.

lol?

What puzzled me is why did OSRS find out such "oversight" and "mistake" after more than 1.5 months? And if they truly intent Duke Mining not to be a training method, they could and should have just make it 0 xp easily.

With the "fix" yesterday, Duke Mining is still a training method although we need to pay attention more attention to the screen and click more.

You don't have to mention it because that's the only context in which this 10k XP an hour method is relevant. Low effort afk motherlode mine is more profitable and more XP. Meaning this is no """big loss""" to anyone with a pair of braincells to rub together.

And if you enjoy the excitement of Duke mining... you can still do so. You just are interrupted after a period of time, just like every other form of mining. So what's the problem? You can still choose to get 10k XP an hour.

Oh wait, this only affects those taping down spacebar. So again, where's the big loss?

Losing the AFK method of training isn't big losses? We are talking about losing an entire new method of AFK training option. If you think 10k xp per hour isn't an issue then why did OSRS nerfed it? Obviously some people think it is an issue with their pairs of braincells rubbed together.

Low effort Motherlode mine still require a lot of clicking. It is not AFK, and who care about profits when we talking about xp/hr?

so where is the big loss you are referring to?

1.2Billion overall Slayer xp / Ultimate slayer title

OSRS 2277/2277 Untrim slayer cape

No... more than that... It affects the real players who have their AFK training method taken away more. OSRS should have just totally removed xp from Duke Mining if that's their true intention.

You can still mine at Duke by clicking once every 5 minutes. You stop after 5 minutes and can resume again after a short while. This change does not affect people that actually interacted with the game. It only affects people that used hardware manipulation to circumvent the log out timer. Big loss for cheaters and bots! Where's the loss for humans again?

So I have to set my alarm clock to awake myself every 5 minutes? That's not the point of me going with a supposedly AFK training method in a tradeoff of low xp rate.

The nerfed Duke Mining just nuked a training method. OSRS should have just removed all xp from it if it wasn't meant to be a training method as Tenebri opined.

Runescape is great in that people are free to do whatever they want. As long as they're actually playing the game. This change doesn't affect anyone playing the game fairly.
I've seen players use the watchtower entrance to train agility. Actions give XP. You mine, you get XP. The XP from Duke's salt is negligible. Emergent gameplay means that negligible XP can become valuable to some players. It's just no longer valuable to cheaters.

So do you think AFK training is unfair? If so, why didn't OSRS just totally remove xp from Duke Mining? Why did it take OSRS more than 1.5 months to make the change? Why didn't they roll back all the "unfair" xp players gained in the last 1.5 months from Duke Mining?
