Reports are being looked over by jagex, they just make new accounts. Best cause of action if I may say so myself is do what you're doing, keep reporting everyone you see doing this, spread awareness here like you are now at times and definitely write a msg in G.E when you see these noobs and say something like "Don't fall for the youtube scam, it directs you to a fake website" Or similar.
That's exactly what I am doing so trust me you're not making "no difference". Just keep doing it and less people will fall for it and maybe they also do the same in the future and it spreads step by step! It's all a team effort among us players :)

If I was a GM I could solve this in 5 minutes.

As I said....They aren't making new accounts. They are spamming MEMBERS areas with level 50-100 combat accounts. These are hacked player accounts spamming . Reporting them won't do anything. They say the message 5-10 times then never log in that account again. Then log on to someone else'S account that fell for it. It looks very legitimate and it works!

I can keep reporting the players (I do this) but I can't keep spending time going to youtube and reporting each video or taking time off from what I'm doing to constantly tell people to not fall for this as it wastes all my productivity in-game. They're making thousands of dollars doing this. Potentially per day. All Jagex needs to do is filter the spams out better.

When you log into an account from an "unknown location" you need to check your email address for a confirmation code to be able to log in. This should be implemented immediately on all accounts with a connected email. This alone would almost destroy these scammers. People might fall for a phishing scam on their game account but will they fall for a phishing scam on their game AND email? I feel like it's less likely. That would prevent the never-ending flow of accounts they have access to and slow them down.

Jagex can take steps to resolve this but taking notice of the problem and willing to do something is step one. I cannot do this for them and there's something seriously wrong with putting all the effort on the players. I do not see these problems in World of Warcraft and other games I play which require monthly memberships also. There is money for this and we're paying for it...

What you don't seem to understand is how easy it is to make these accounts vs how hard it is to ban them all. As far as the website, when Jagex can, they have the site owners take them down, but often it's on a site that will fight them because it makes them money.

They are either hacked (possibly from someone that fell for the scam), or bought accounts. In some cases these are rs3 accounts that have weak passwords, or got hacked over there and the scammer decided they could make more money on osrs than selling off their stuff in rs3. In other cases its old accounts that they have hacked via hard password hack (that is putting a list of possible password back to back. Hackers know that people will often use a simple password that can be discovered over time.

You would be surprised how many people use a password such as 123456, or "safeword". IF an account is not active, they can take however long they need to "guess" it.

I mean what do you expect to happen? YouTube is an external platform all you can do is report it there and they will handle it.
Jagex can't really do much nor do they have the time.

I've proposed multiple solutions as a developer I can come up with multiple resolutions. Please stop making an excuse for lazy business practices.

The easiest solution would be to prompt people with email addresses on account to verify a code via email when switching IP addresses. There's MANY solutions to this problem so please do not just comment "what do you expect" if you have nothing to contribute to the solution.

people need to stop clicking the fake runescape link in the youtube video and use the Quick find code on the offical website, but it's a fake so there won't be a real Quick find code

There is little question that Jagex knows about this scam, or its proliferation given that it was stickied as a scam years ago in the sticky on this forum

Original message details are unavailable.

• "2B Giveaway - Search Scamer123 on Youtube, Trade for 5M after Voting!" - Do not fall for this. The Video will say some rehashed line about a giveaway where you must follow the link in the description that takes you to a RuneSca,

While the descriptions different, the ideas the same. As for why its so prolific, its nearly impossible to stop someone from mass creating accounts to spam that stuff on F2P worlds.
