Had a red/blue phat a few years ago and more wealth cleaned out of my rs3 portion due to social engineering and data dumps. I know this because it was rehacked right while i was still playing and they were holding my other accounts at ransom but let it go when they realized id had already been hacked away clean, i asked how he got the info and he told me. At the time i had quit, there was no two factor authentication, so when i had come back it was too late. Every time i log onto the modern version of runescape i get depressed and immediately log off.

I play on an ironman now instead to dull the pain. Will probably never ever play the modern version as seeing someone else wear a rare that i had spent so many years grinding for just demotivates me.

Honestly very upsetting how the OSRS team handled this situation. Personally i was hacked twice because of a phish link. My account was on someone elses steam and because im not a content creator its going to ruin the economy if i was to receive my items back. Talk about unfair!

Isn't it amazing that when you get caught in the act you pretend to have just gained the ability to do the very thing you've been doing for your "FAVOURITES" for years.

Nice one guys, hope your having a good old giggle at the lower classes.

Honestly yours

The scary part is we don't know how many shady favoritism acts OSRS has done behind our backs. Some players might have caught OSRS with their pants down when they found content creators illegitimately boosted only because they could see their banks/inventories of the content creators. We have absolutely no idea how extensive is this favoritism scandals.

OSRS also made this remark in the blog:

"While we recognize that this can create feelings of disparity among our general playerbase, our ultimate intention is to safeguard the reputation of Old School RuneScape, ensuring sustainability and continued enjoyment for all members."

Bummer! What they have actually done is discrediting the content creators OSRS players have seen often. How do we know these content creators who claimed to obtain their billions of gp from Tutorial Island offline weren't from luck like Tbows spawning on their feet or they killed someone in the Wildy and their runecrafting pouch turned into max cash?

OSRS isn't safeguarding the reputation of OSRS, but put it in a very precarious position rather.

The even scarier thing is OSRS's favoritism in banning and unbanning the richest OSRS content creator (or what he proclaimed) the past few years for RWT has resurfaced recently with yet another banning of this person. While RWT is a major offense supposedly resulted in permanent ban with no appeal, this popular streamer managed to get unbanned many times and have his items/gp returned to him.

Whether OSRS will break their RWT banning rule for this favorite content creator of their own this time is yet to be seen, but they can't hide the fact some content creators, including the richest ones, are far more equal than most others, and the recent incident was hardly even new. They have not just unbanned proven content creating RWTers the past few years many times, but also unorthodoxly returned all their gp so they contine and continue to be the "richest" person in OSRS.

This...is not surprising at all.
Hell, this is the reason why bots run rampant in the game.

Sure they could listen to the 500 members complaining about bots ruining the game, but that's never going to happen when there are 5,000 bots which have membership paid for them via real world trading.

And it's the same with content creators, the main focus of the team is always going to be on the people who bring them in the most income as opposed to the actual fans of the game.

Players familiar with OSRS know the game can't be any more unfair for years and OSRS just swept every stinky thing under the rug. This is not the surprising part at all.

What is surprising is the OSRS team openly admitted they are at fraud and still vow to continue to be at fraud and unfair. Essentially they have just removed the rug and exposed all those dirty things they have been hidden under the rug the past years.

Jagex updated the Lost Item support page for OSRS:

"Old School RuneScape
Please be aware that we are currently unable to offer a general lost item service for Old School.
In some limited situations we will aim to return items, these are:

Loss of items through no fault of the player (such as a news post verified exploit)
Losses due to human error by Jagex Staff
Loss of GIM items caused by storage malfunction
In these situations, we will do all we can to put things right. As we have processes to identify these incidents automatically, we can usually return items or wealth to all affected players without anyone needing to contact us.

If there are occasional situations where we plan to return items to a significant number of players, we will publish an associated news post that will clarify what the specific issue is and outline our make good plans."

https://support.runescape.com/hc/en-gb/articles/209366569-Lost-items

Even with their updated rule, it still puzzled me why did they return items to streamers as there didn't seem to be storage malfunction or verfified exploits and such. So the only reason left would be "human error by Jagex Staff". That we won't know if it was the case but otherwise, this is just more nonsense to cover up nonsense.
