It has long been rumored OSRS is not a fair game. Some players are getting favorite treatments than the others.

Today, we have learned officially from the OSRS Team such favoritisms aren't just rumors:

"Recently, an incident involving the return of a large amount of wealth to a content creator has surfaced several concerns and spirited discussions among the community, primarily pertaining to our item return policies and practices.

Your voices, your frustrations, and your genuine care for the continuity and fairness of our actions have not gone unnoticed. The decision to return lost wealth to a content creator, after their account was compromised, has shed light on inconsistencies and provoked rightful questions about our policies and commitment to all community members, irrespective of their following or status. In this instance, it was an unfortunate case of miscommunication between teams and differing approaches to item returns.

Our policy, as stated on our website, currently indicates a universal inability to return lost items to players. However, we acknowledge that recent actions have diverged from this message, creating confusion and feelings of inequality among our valued community."

The OSRS Team further explicitly acknowledged they put content creators above the others:

"Occasionally, this has led us to extend our support in instances that are significantly public and can adversely impact the perception of the game on a larger scale. "

Literally, OSRS acknowledged they aren't fair to all OSRS players and they know about it, but they are creating such disparities deliberately.

This sounds shady and scandalous to the extreme degree to me. Do you think some selected OSRS players should be allowed to be more fair and above all the OSRS players?

Yeah but who cares ... We all know Jagex has the ability to remove add anything to the game we've all done a little bit of coding to understand how it works and for them to continue the narrative of we can't is stupid.

I think they just don't have the time to replace items etc so they just say it's impossible to remove so I just say they did the right thing the man was a veteran like me and spent 20 plus years playing and brought a lot of goodness to runescape through YouTube and as a business you need them kind of people and you need to take care of them.

Of course a lot of players cares, me too. Otherwise, why would OSRS have to put up such a disgraceful article to admit and apologize for their wrongdoing?

A key note here is they said they aren't returning items to any OSRS players because of technical difficulties, but now they acknowledged they could actually do it without hence said technical difficulties. However, they are only willing to extend such services to content creators of their choices as well as other selected players like GIM.

So OSRS acknowledged they lied about the "technical difficulties" regarding item returns. They have just been doing shady things to favorite certain players behind the backs of the OSRS community.

Jagex would make any government official proud. Screw over the little people in favor of the corporations (content creators). Reality is, cash is king and your 12 dollars a month will never mean as much as multiple new players, content creators might bring in.

You think they care about your veteran status? It's all about money, real world money. End of story.

We have all kinds of controversies like rigged polla and corrupted Jmods accusations in OSRS, that I can almost always find a reason to give OSRS the benefits of the doubts. However, this time OSRS flat us told us they lied about their claim on technical problems and deliberately favored content creators and other groups like GIM and will continue to favorite them.

This is simply no excuse, and what makes this farce goes even worse is they said they are going to changes the wordings of the Lost Item Return policy just to hide their deliberate favoritism on selected players.

As shady as this seems, it probably boils down to an investment of effort. They don't have the manpower to try and track down the truth or falsity of everyone's claims, but when some big youtuber/streamer has recorded proof, it's easier to verify.

Plus, these people bring heaps of cash to Jagex that normal people like you or I never will, so their dollar influx matters a lot more than any of our veteran statuses do.

It sucks, but I also understand it.

They have the capability to identify any claim and prove it to be true or false. It's a matter of lack of effort to the majority of the public, but when a popular steamer gets the same outcome something is actually done to justify the situation because its seen publicly. I've shown proof losing 700m once, and proof again losing another 1.2b, and nothing happened to resolve the issue, all i was told that "you need to be more careful, unfortunately there's nothing we can do in these situations" yet they can. Example; when an account gets hacked, and logs in from another country half way across the world, and they ban/lock the account for "account sharing" they can easily prove that effortlessly. But when if that happens and your banks cleaned, they don't bat an eye about it because it can all be earned again over time. I stopped playing this game for about 4-5 years do to the lack of help, and I'm sure plenty of others have as well, yet they want to grow their community more.

It's great they're finally admitting their issues, but for some it's to little to late.

With controversies like Purple Skin, Partnership MTX, not banning bots or even mass unbanning them, I can still look from the $$$ side of a business and say OSRS might be doing it for their survival.

However, don't tell us OSRS will die if their favorited content creators and other groups aren't getting special treatments. Aren't most content creators creating IM, staking/DM, or one-off event content already? Some of them make UIM content with no bank. Some of them create bank making series with new accounts from Tutorial Island. Most of them make new accounts for GIM, DMM, Leagues etc. If they can't start a new account from no bank they don't deserve to be our favorite content creators anyway.

Don't even get me into the incredibly ridiculous shady acts to not just restore the shard bank of GIM, but also allow them to keep all illegitimately duplicated items. Don't tell us GIM need this ridiculous shady push to survive. Don't tell us OSRS needs to allow GIM to exploit the shared storage duplication exploits to survive.

Now nobody will believe any OSRS polls after they exposed this scandal, or they better have to worry about whether anybody will believe any word they say or even promise first.
