Would you mind explaining why you think it is necessary for OSRS to have rares/discontinued items in the game? This question is by no means a way to attack your argument. My intent is to understand and provoke some thought into your reasoning behind such a demand for the benefit of the community.

The way the economy is now, rares are not needed. The idea of the game is to start fresh (for new players and FSW) with a new account, learn the game, level skills, earn money, use the money to buy upgrades, use the upgrades to level further, and further trying to get the best in slot gear. There's really no "wrong way" to play the game. However, getting a discontinued item that's worth millions/billions, just because there are a limited amount in supply, just to sell it (let's be real, in RS3 they aren't just used for bragging rights), and fund your character's 99's.

That would be the route that discontinued/rares would be followed, which takes away the "intended" way to play and enjoy the game.

then they should probably take voting away because osrs really needs rares Why should they allow a tiny group that wants to use something like rares to make fun of those that play game the way it should be? A lot of the people that got rares in rs2 did so just to make fun of those that played the game for skills or pking. According to this group, the only way to play the game was to make money. Anything else, according to them, was a waste of money and time. Unless you have that mindset, there is no need for tradeable rares.

Why discontinued items into the game?
The whole economy around the item will just be speculative , only a small rich group of players would get advantage over this..

Discontinued tradeable items will just ruin the delicated economy that OSRS has at this moment.

Why does osrs need discontinued item(s)? As a endgame goal like in other Rs game, after you have maxed your stats and have all best-in-slot equipment?

Surely you know that the discontinued items that rs3 has were not released with a +10b price tag. Their current price is result of over a decade of gold being created, players hoarding them, price manipulation by merchers and ofc the limited number of them.

For Status symbol?

I believe that the current playerbase is wiser regarding the discontinued status of items now versus 2002 when they were introduced as silly holiday items. Everyone and their nan would hoard as many as possible, hoping to make profit, resulting in nobody really desiring to own one, when theyre too common to have that exclusive status that the original rares still hold.

Just my 2 cents on the topic. Im not exactly against the idea, but doubt i would get that excited if devs were to introduce one.
