Why don't people riot over the osrs fury ornament being the wrong character model? Oh because in 2010 I was one of the few which paid 35M to own one, that's why, I remember what it looks like but none of you were around at that time nor were you maxed and had billions.
Just because you were a merchant did not mean you were anything of value to the game. Most merchants did not have any stats and most pkers only had combat stats, yet called themselves "maxed" accounts. You ignored 99% of the game and called yourself masters of it.

Why does osrs need discontinued item(s)? As a endgame goal like in other Rs game, after you have maxed your stats and have all best-in-slot equipment?
Surely you know that the discontinued items that rs3 has were not released with a +10b price tag. Their current price is result of over a decade of gold being created, players hoarding them, price manipulation by merchers and ofc the limited number of them.
For Status symbol?
I believe that the current playerbase is wiser regarding the discontinued status of items now versus 2002 when they were introduced as silly holiday items. Everyone and their nan would hoard as many as possible, hoping to make profit, resulting in nobody really desiring to own one, when theyre too common to have that exclusive status that the original rares still hold.
Just my 2 cents on the topic. Im not exactly against the idea, but doubt i would get that excited if devs were to introduce one.
I completely agree. Even if there was a discontinued item released it would never be the same as Rs3. People would immediately start hoarding them realizing they may be valuable. What made the rares, rare, was the low supply over the years.
Carry 29 Shrimp?! Are you crazy??
Carry 27 shrimp and 2.1 billion cannonballs? Now that I can do...
