If there's a retro Zanik's crossbow override, I think it'd make more sense to get it not from Solomon's, but from Original Zanik in the 'Behind the Scenes' bar accessable during and after the Gower Quest. Requirements would be completion of The Chosen Commander and Gower Quest.
