I remember reading your post regarding the chameleon extract and your observations on the color shade.
I know it is of small condolences but for purposes of photos you could try loading the game in Java (If it is even still operational?).
The color red is much more vibrant/less muted then in the NXT client. It maybe closer to the effect you are trying to achieve. Though unfortunately, it does not help you in the modern game. I understand your pain lol, I was Red myself for my first few years and held off transitioning to the new client for the longest time as the loss in richness was very apparent to me.
