Can someone explain to me the difference between charging money for additional in-game content (membership) and this new feature? Why do these new cosmetic items cause problems with some, while paying a monthly fee to be able to maintain certain skills and combat experiences seems to be alright?
Thanks in advance ;)

I agree with the fact that Jagex should not be selling these useless cosmetics.
What use is looking good in a online computer game?
The very idea strikes me as ridiculous!
But most important of all all these in-game 'stores' and such is making Runescape lose not only players, but also individuality. Through all the years I've played, Runescape's individuality is what has already attracted me.
And I can be sure I am not the only one who thinks this!
Jagex- More and more players are realising that these stores are only made to mercilessly rob players who are young and gullible enough to send their money on the latest fibs! This realisation will collaspe the number of loyal players who have been with you for years and stop the new generation of players joining!

In reply to Aorta, Because a fixed monthly fee is a level playing field that means that if you want something, you have to work in game for it - in other words gameplay is rewarded. By intoducing paid for specific extras (which almost by definition will be "better" in some way then rewards earned in-game, or why would Jagex expect anyone to be inclined to buy them?), it devalues in-game effort. True, *I* don't have to buy things, but it makes me feel playing the game itself pretty pointless and unrewarding if I can only buy the best bits instantly for a fee.

I agree with you entirely, However its too late for me. I'm too far gone, I can't escape this game. I stopped playing for 2 weeks when my internet was down and all i could think about was playing runescape after the first week.
Now I am too weak, I will spend more money on this game and end up poor in real life.
