I have a good quote for your original post also.
"A lot of the free offerings are sadly misleading because they're not. Most of them rely on the microtransaction system, which is really a stealth tax; I prefer to call it death by a thousand cuts," ... "Commercially you can say it's a great opportunity, the way of the future. Ethically you can say it devalues the product."

The funny thing is, if these people didn't buy the items they would be free with membership.
You may argue they would have less staff and therefore less of these items, but the reality is we are having less updates than previously before they were making more money this way, so I doubt there is any more staff in the first place.
They are milking this to death and sooner or later even those buying will see that their $40 item is out dated in a few months. Every person that wants to collect every piece of clothing in the game will soon need to pay $100 a month, how long before even they become fed up with it and the same goes for the emotes on sof.

If it's ok for Jagex to sell stuff, then it's 100% ok for ANYONE else to do it too. This is not a "do as I say, not as I do" situation - this is more like "all or nothing". SoF is NOT ok either... if I wanted to be playing a game where I needed more real life money to get things beyond my monthly membership, I'd be playing a different game.

Quit using the term "RWT" everybodyyyyy and just call it Microtransactions, which is what they are. And also quit saying Runescape's breaking their own rule. =X If you get a 99 from level 1 with Squeal of Fortune, you win all arguments.

Yeah, I hear you. Which is why I won't buy anything unless it's free or I can get it with the 200 free runecoins and I really, really want it.
I also won't buy spins, use Refer a Friend, or any other money-scams Jagex may come up with in the future.

The SOF is already a way to buy xp, but it's indirect and random, you have a chance at receiving a random piece of junk as well as xp and gold.
That's how they justify it. If they start blatantly selling x amount of xp for x ammount of dollars, or gold for that matter. That's the day I quit Runescape.
Playing along side botters is bad enough, let alone people who got their levels and wealth with the mediocre dedication of pressing the SOF button after buying a ton of spins. O_o

I hate people like you
@Secretwishes: Wow, nice comment. I have to really agree with you on Jagex's definition of "loyalty" and their apparent disregard for bots.
@EP LOGOUT: Edited, Thanks!
@Taccal: A great point. Sad thing is that people will actually continue to support this mess of an update.
@Sorion Hex X: That's the new terms and conditions, I'm talking about Jagex's old rules against RWT. Here is the original reason cited by Jagex for the creation of the anti-RWT rule:
"We have this rule for three reasons: firstly, because we don’t want you to be able to buy your way to success in our games. If we let players start doing this it devalues our games for other players. We feel your status in real-life shouldn’t affect your ability to be successful in the game. Secondly, we cannot monitor the transactions made between players outside the game, and if players swap items for external benefits we can*t see, to us it looks like an unbalanced suspicious trade. Thirdly, often when players attempt to break this rule and sell items for real cash the items are actually stolen, so you could even end up getting in trouble for receiving stolen property. If you purchased an account you might find it suddenly returned to the original rightful owner and yourself out of pocket.”
— Jagex
@DeniedDeath: Cool, same here.
@Arianwyn: Thanks!
@Frigglenax: You can now convert all your rewards into coins, now what?
And a great thanks to Caligula for his bumps!
