No support personally. While I'd rather these over the awful-looking true retro items, I just think Jagex needs to not make any more retro items. If you want some nostalgia, there's OSRS. I still stand by my opinion against retro items and how they really are an eyesore in a game that's trying to look better as time goes on.

while your thinking is perfectly logical, and is the direction of which the game should go, it is really just your own opinion
some people see retro items as true weapons (most of them had designs based on reality, unlike newer variants) and so don't see the new weapons as "trying to look better" and in fact make the game look worse to them
"they really are an eyesore in a game that's trying to look better as time goes on." opinion this is, but im not sure on the "trying to look better" bit
I for one would like rs to keep its medieval roots with weapons and armour that shows that, rather than the full fantasy that modern weapon graphics now show
its losing the spirit it once had....
id rather they added the retro items people want, so that everyone can atleast have the character that they want (within reason)
you can have yours, and if someone wishes to wear the old version of bronze with a dragon scimitar + dragonfire shield.. well, they should be able to do that too...
Well, the thing is that yeah, the retro items look more realistic and true according to real-world history and such but Jagex is trying to take the game away from that typical medieval fantasy trope that you're seeing make a resurgence in clichefests like GoT or The Witcher. They're trying to take it towards a more high fantasy, all original approach. That's why I feel retro stuff just doesn't fit in the modern game.
And if we
have
to have retro stuff, why couldn't they have given them a facelift? For example, they could have implemented weapons and armor that are retro-themed but fit with the current graphics at least. Instead, they just dug up the pre-EoC models, threw them in the game and charge for them to get a quick buck.
Or another solution could be that Jagex could offer players a toggle that hides retro overrides for the individual so they don't have to see them. I already mostly confine myself to w66 because I don't care to see the crappy, old Legacy animations. I don't mind that people like it but I just prefer to not see them myself. That's why I wish we could have a toggle or no-retro world.

Wow, thought this thread died! Updating it now. As for the debate..
RSHD gear honestly wouldn't clash so heavily with the armor we currently have. The armor is now, exactly how it was before RSHD moved on to RS3. In comparison to the current weapons perhaps they'd clash, because the current weapons use the exact same textures, however when looking at the weapons models for the RS3 weapons.. they're honestly just ugly. I can't find any time in my life where I'd ever look at the rune longsword and think that's a neat weapon, for example. RSHD weapons I support returning to the game because they aren't quite as dated as they may seem.
As for true Retro things, yes. I can agree that true Retro doesn't match in RS anymore, at least not without a preening to make things a bit more presentable. There was a time where the Heraldic helmets had a Retro design, but an RSHD/RS3 texture on them, and that allowed them to mix really well (Let's say an Asgarnian Heraldic helmet on a White platebody), that's an example of Retro being preened, though of course now Jagex just tore that away and updated it. Implementing something like a True Retro longsword would not work, because they were just a wire-thin line of color. RSHD weapons, however, were far more functional and aesthetically appealing than.. I'd say a good majority of the RS3 weapons. Exceptions of course go to most of the bronze and steel weapons, with a special shoutout to excalibur for being a bit of everything. But you take a look at the iron 2h sword, and what the unholy hell is that just massive clump of metal doing above the hilt throwing the weight way off, nevermind that it then leads in to one of the thinnest blades I've seen yet? RSHD iron 2h wouldn't do that to us.
