LOL at people buying spins now expecting to get double...
They said in the first sentence that it will be 'this weekend' and as far as I know it isn't the 'weekend' yet!
Anyway I don't hate Jagex for this because to me it seems logical...it isn't any different to Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer's unlock system (where you can spend MS points to buy packs which only have a small chance of receiving the item you want). The SoF is the same thing and I think it's been quite successful for Jagex!
I would not be surprised if the SoL and Solomon's General Store get Jagex more money than membership subscribers do. It is here to stay...I just hope Jagex doesn't go overboard with stuff like paying for gp with real money or being able to buy whatever you want for a real-life price.
They should do what TF2 does and let you buy certain items (tradable but not dropped by monsters) that can be added to weapons that track certain things (see: Strange Weapons/Strange Parts in the TF2 wiki).
For example, '# of Dragon Kills part' can be added to any weapon/bow/staff etc. that tracks how many Dragons you have killed. It doesn't DO anything to the weapon stats it just tracks kills.
These 'parts' can be traded to other players but are NOT dropped by monsters, only bought in the store/won on the SoF. That way, players can buy the parts with in-game money (likely to be expensive because it costs real money to buy) and can add it to any weapon they want.
Also see 'Unusuals' in the TF2 wiki but I think Jagex is already doing that with cosmetic weapon skins and 'Lucky' items in the SoF.

Well I mean so much for P hats and all those nice expensive discontinued items that only a select few can own. Now you can spend 100 on spins and by the end of it all be so much closer than someone who played this game for 11 years.....
But that's considered fair?

If you buy spins YOU ARE STUPID! Don't support this crap. Don't buy spins. Just use the spins you are given and be done with it. Let them do a promotion for double spins. Let them do a promotion for triple spins. Heck, let them even do a promotion for 10x spins if you buy them. DO NOT BUY SPINS!
They do these promos because they know the community hates it. The fact that they are doing these promos shows they are desperate to make the cash. Follow my example people, use your free spins you get from normal membership and don't buy any more so that they will realize this crap won't fly with us.

3. I doubt Runefest will even go on. There will be a MOB of angry players.
4. Just because someone rage quits RS doesn't mean they won't be at Runefest waiting for there revenge...

What a slap straight to the face, Gerhard, aka a certain investment partner, posts a nice reassuring letter to the whole community, stating that Jagex plans to focus more on actual content, and not try to eat our wallet. Only one day later they release yet another sales gimmick on the one thing that the community loathes even more than solomon's, SoF. Hm. Great job guys. Sell double money and exp. The community really doesn't matter.
