Just thought I'd add a few thoughts.
1: Just because YOU don't like the cosmetic updates don't speak for everyone and say that "No one likes these updates."
2: These are pretty nice, thanks Jagex.
3: They aren't spending time on this instead of botnuke. They have specialized teams. The people releasing this content are probably not on the same team that deals with exploits, bots, and probably engine efficiency. This team is probably based more on the creative side of things such as modelling/animation/etc, not the mechanical side of things.
4: Someone off-topic said that to have a credit card you have to be rich? First of all if you are "Rich" you don't need a credit card. Secondly, you can get a debit/credit card for free with a free checking account at most banks? I feel this was a kid who can't legally own a debit, go buy a prepaid Visa from walmart or something.
5: I feel like most of the people complaining that "No one wants these updates" secretly want them, but can't afford them due to lack of income. Also, how can you not be a member and then complain of paid content? You are freeloading on this game, you have no place to complain about this subject. Enjoy the fact they are giving you a game for absolutely free, while they pay the server costs. YOU may be the reason these features were added, to cover the cost of free players.
6: People complaining this game no longer rides on it's medieval setting. Because fairies, goblins, ice giants, vampires, and magical teleports existed in medieval times? This game has always been a fantasy world, nothing has changed. It has merely expanded.
