It's so ridiculous for people to care about them having to throw hundreds of dollars at a game to keep up, huh?
So ridiculous that surely we should call them babies and ******* and all sorts of lovely things like that.
But the stuff is so "awesome"... I mean... trying to get us to real world trade with them? Ignore that, it's cool and shiny so we don't care!
If you're going to suck up to Jagex, you could at least not pretend to think that people are ridiculous for disliking what's happening.
Jagex is a company, yes. But a company is nowhere without it's customers. Essentially, what they are saying is "***** you, old customers, we're going to put our hope in people who are willing to pay more money than you for the same game experience".
Morally, it's not right at all.
Business-wise, it's a huge risk (because there could very well be nobody who is willing to get into a competition of who can spend the most money).
A game that exists for the purpose of multiple people playing together... I'm going to be honest with you, the community matters very much.
In short, the wealthy/those with their own jobs who are dumb enough to waste more than $10 a month on a game that isn't that great are jagex's new focus. The 30k players and 120k bots aren't cared about anymore, and it is my personal opinion that with nobody to beat out through real world trading, and no real new game content, plus no new players, the game will die pretty quickly.
I still can't believe Jagex is dumb enough to put up "discuss this here" links...
