Thank you very much Jagex, I have greatly enjoyed the playing the game for the years I have been playing. I love the fact that now I won't even have to play to get some of the most powerful items in RS ever. The 1m free xp! I hated playing for xp, and now I won't have to! All I'll have to do is pay, and my account will just be progressed for me. No more grinding - woohoo! No more working to money in Scape, all I'll have to do is pay for it. I'm just going to stop playing and start paying, because playing is so 2000's.
Actually, seeing as I won't have to play to progress, I'm not going to bother paying to play. I'm going to take my $10 NZ a month and put it into the good old beer fund.
RuneScape is supposed to be a game. To progress in a game, all you should have to do is PLAY THE GAME. Members is all good - you pay a monthly subscription, you get access to all the content. But no more. If I wanted microtransactions, I'd play games on facebook.
I almost quit with the bonus xp weekends, and I'm starting to regret that I didn't. The most powerful items in RuneScape shouldn't be just given to you for paying for members for two months, and you shouldn't be getting "over $45 worth of items and spins" if you pay for two months membership, you should be able to work towards getting anything in game by paying for a subscription to a game. A game that I am willing to pay to play, at least. The SOF and Solomon's are a slippery slope, and this update just convinces me that you have decided to let the quality of RuneScape slide - hell, I've seen less cheesy sales in infomercials.
We were promised that there would never be microtransactions in RS, and that is one of the main reasons I've played this so long. Another reason is that there would never be one-off game changing items. You've gone back on your word there, Jagex, and I'm pretty damn sure I speak for a lot of players when I say I'm really disappointed.
I think it's about time I let the old Coach retire.
