I'm sorry, but i believe a lot of games do microtransactions and they are still going strong. Please do your research before making false claims.
You do know that before the year 2012 Runescape was a game where no micro transactions actually existed, therefore what we mean by that the community will fall apart is because all these new changes are totally against what us veterans are used to. But most of you new people probably think micro transactions are normal. Micro transactions are going to split the community in half, vets who have been loyal to the game, and new people who doesnt know crap.

what will happen to those of us who have a recurring membership? is this offer limited to new members only? if so i am very displeased with Jagex. we members should be intitled to the same benefits as people who just become a member.

i agree completely with you. and on the fact of beta. i will still be playing but as soon as Jagex changes the grafic to look like w.o.w. or d.d.o. im leaving. ive been a member for 4 years or more. i think jagex should reward there players for being loyal and not punish them with new updates that we veterans have no word on.

What is that flaming skull you speak of? I was not aware of that. I myself is a recurring member since 2008 and I have never turned off my subscription even if I was gone for 4-6months at a time. =P
