That's the point exactly. items and xp randomly handed out to you isn't fun, adding new gameplay to obtain those same items/xp bonuses is.

I just want to make sure i'm reading this right.
Stay a member from August to September, get 700k xp (i'll assume it would be Mad May necklace-like), a bunch of customization stuff, AND a powerful ITEM (note, they never said it was a weapon...)
And there is a portion of the community that is complaining....
I think I need a "hide post" button, so start removing all the trolling posts that seem to be popping up *all. the. time.*
On Topic: Thank you Jagex, though I was lukewarm on BXPW's, as I couldn't really take advantage of it (jobs, life, etc.) I welcome this summer update with open arms. Thanks for giving us players (even the ones that flame every update) the free stuff! I continue to look forward to future content!

The advertising of "$45 in items for staying a member" is rather sickening. It reminds me of those infomercials that sell the cheap, horrible items that no one in their right mind would buy "Buy now and we'll include 16 free tubes of Mighty Putty!".
The "Choose Your Fate" line is also questionable. I surely hope these aren't powerful items in a combat sense if they are one-time receivable items. It seems quite unfair to other players who join the game, or cannot current be a member.
Bottom line. More free xp, more SOF spins, more RWT plugs.
If you make an update with some real content, I'm sure people would gladly continue their membership, or subscribe for membership.
Here's hoping to better thought-out updates in the future.
