I do believe Steam will not be required to play Chronicle: RuneScape Legends, and so you will be able to run the game through the already released official client.

I played Chronicle a lot during its Closed Beta during the Christmas Holidays
Me and my girlfriend really enjoyed the game!

They also mentioned Steam achievements and Steam Trading Cards. I don't think your quote from Mod Merchant mentioned anything about these being transferred over. What are these achievements and Trading Cards? Are they cosmetic only, or in any way obtainable later, particularly near or after the end of June?
