Hats off to you Jagex. For the first time in as long as I can remember, you are acknowledging the problem. I think the temporary death mechanic rework is exactly the right way to combat this.
My only suggestion is, as is the nature of oldschool, if they don't get on in 10 mins they stand to lose a lot more than runescape 3 players. I personally was unable to get onto oldschool for about 20 mins straight last night, luckily I didn't die, but if I had, I would have certainly lost some items.
Maybe, as it's a temporary solution until these people are caught, you could introduce a grave stone but really drum home to the community it's purely there until the ddos problem is solved? Because there is nothing worse than losing a few months effort because of someone else. Just an idea.
Gravestones absolutely do not belong in oldschool, providing the servers are working
