Having faced all the challenges you faced on RuneScape, I am not displeased with what you have accomplished. You've been the pioneering figure at Jagex's RuneScapes' many accomplishments, including, but not limited to, quashing Bots, dealt a fatal blow to gold-farmers, ushered in a new age of life with RuneScape 3, and been present for the launch of hundreds upon hundreds of updates to the game.

You've been present for many road bumps but equally many towering achievements. Well done. I wish you the most fortuitous of opportunities for success in all of your future endeavors.

MMG did what he had to do. As he states here, he has made mistakes, but not all of those are entirely his fault. What should be celebrated is his efforts against bots, as said here. Compared to pre-bot nuke, the game is now almost entirely real players. Whenever a gold farmer does manage to pm me they're banned within seconds. I visited Botany Bay a few weeks ago and it was completely empty, (though whether that implies the system is failing or succeeding is a matter of debate).

Due to the way MMG has taken a back seat in the past year or so, I haven't really felt his impact on the game as much as when the bots were being taken care of or the Squeal was first introduced. Regardless I feel sorry for Mark in a way. Many players feel he has killed off the spirit of the game. I think he did the best he could in a bad situation, and the player base didn't help. The atmosphere is toxic on the forums (minus Lore Discussion :D ), and the constant split between EoC, 07 and Legacy has shredded.. whatever the community was beforehand.

Farewell Mod Mark Gerhard. A pleasure to have played this game under the entire duration of your reign.

And of course good luck to Mod Pips! I'm just a man; I'm not a hero.

I was not expecting that. Quite gutted.

Your hard work over the last few years has absolutely helped RuneScape to compete and continue, for which thank you :)

I have met you at a couple of RuneFests and always been impressed at how gracious and easy going you were, even when surrounded by overly-excitable fans :)

Hope you are on to bigger and better (impossible!) things.

NO. People like you are horrible. Mmg is a money hungry, greedy, and disloyal excuse for a human. Actions speak louder than words. He hired a former bot maker to the runescape team(jacmob). He introduced the definition of rwt into the game via bonds. Educate yourself fool.

He is largely responsible for the game having almost no bots.

I am not discrediting jacmob. He is a great mind. My point is that you dont sleep with your enemy, let alone hire them.

You are an idiot. You obviously don't know how security, or really how the tech world works in general. Did it ever occur to you that the same reason Jacmob was hired by Jagex is the same reason governments and security firms hire hackers who break into their systems? The best way to find and patch holes in your systems and to prevent further breaches is to get the people who broke your system in the first place to work for you to patch the holes.

You want to stop bots from not getting detected? You hire the guy who, most successfully, avoided your systems for the longest time. The person who knows your system best is not you, it's the person who can break it.
