I can't help that this discussion makes me laugh a little and feel grateful that I have a iPhone 5s and excellent wifi & service. This Authenticator works about as perfect as possible for me (it almost feels like magic because I don't know all the details behind it).

However if a lot of folks are having problems with it it might not be a good idea, especially as the only enhanced security feature available.

Lol at the posts that suggest that having a smartphone means you're rich ^_^ :'D

I dont have a smartphone, and everything i have clicked on so far requires me to have a blackberry device,ipad,ipodtouch,iphone or android devices which i dont have

so how can i download this app straight onto my pc?

There isn't an Authenticator to download straight to my computer, i have one computer and a simple phone just for any type of emergency.

Did you not think of this? That everyone doesn't have these devices or afford them.

so please tell me where i can download a Authenticator for my computer desktop please, without a phone...

they didn't do a poll, they just expect everyone to have the correct phones to do this A**.... which ain't gonna happen.....not everyone can afford them!! :@

This is the biggest flaw with the system. I really hope Jagex finds a way to fix this for you, but as it stands right now, I don't believe there is a way for you to get the authenticator. Which basically means Jagex has allowed your account to be unsecured, which is horrible in my opinion.

yep, another great idea from Jagex, and from what Ive read it is intended as much to save them money as it is to keep things secure. figures.

i don't have a smart phone and don't want one. tried to install the one recommended but it required additional software to be used on my gaming computer. since it is set up like i want it i am not adding 40 gigs of extra software just to use the one and only authentication software program suggested.

i would like to suggest that Jagex actually does some research to find several versions of this authentication software. preferably ones that can be installed onto a flash drive so we can use it were ever we go. then tests it on their machines.

oh, almost forgot, they should also provide us links to these authentication programs so we can find them and download them.
