Ya know, I don't mind free xp...
I gotta say, I really don't mind SoF that much and thought at first that it was pretty harmless. Still do, as a matter of fact.
However, I think that the large amount of negative feedback merits at the very least a compromise; I understand that the pinch of extra revenue will contribute to the quality of various updates, and (hopefully) will help Jagex sue the bunsies off the bot companies in the near future. But it seems like a large group of players (or perhaps a small but highly vocal group of players) objects to SoF for ethical and other reasons. Speaking as someone IN FAVOR of SoF, I still feel like all this feedback deserves acknowledgement and respect. No need to keep us in the dark; why not tell us specifically how it's helping you folks over at Jagex to better the RS player community? Perhaps this will help some of us understand why there's no need to be angry.
