It's so great to see a developer so enthusiastic about his work. That really says that he's proud of what he's done and what he's a part of, and that's a good sign for anyone who's worried.

I'm sorta shocked at how much excitement I feel for this quest now! I've always felt questing was the core purpose and best part of Runescape, but I've never felt this much anticipation for a new quest before! "World changing decisions" - This update can't come soon enough. Good on ya both for giving us this BTS, and managing to keep the spoilers to a minimum :P Keep being awesome

hopefully we don't need to slay any gods btw :P it was really annoying when those cave goblins came to say me after the chosen commander: "dude u killed bandos!" and i was like "wtf that was too easy to kill a god! i thought it was just a goblin wearing warsuit" and i got music track called godslayer.... bandos gear felt so lame after that :( i hope that real bandos is still out there somewhere :D

They weren't saying he'd look like Sean Connery, only that he would have a personality like Professor Jones Snr. Devoted to a single specific archaeological discovery that everyone thinks is a fairy tale, above all other concerns.

Really looking forward to this one. Anything that expands on or corrects aspects of the game's story is worth it from my point of view. I like the way that when I started playing this game we were told that Zamorak, Guthix and Saradomin created this world together, but over the years of playing and questing we find that all the religious dogma has built up over the millennia and there are elder gods, betrayed gods, god slayers and all kinds of religious purges that show us that everything we knew was actually completely wrong. I think it's a bit sad that new players don't get this building sense of discovery of all these hidden histories, but that's just what happens when something popular gets developed. (Like the biggest one that I can think of - "Luke, I am your Father". I saw Return of the Jedi 4 times on TV before they showed Empire Strikes Back. Totally spoiled the ending for me :P )

Talking of which...

HYPOTHETICAL THINKING - SO, POSSIBLE SPOILER!

Thinking about the secret purpose of the automata, I'm guessing that Guthix created them to fight off the army of Dragonkin that must have appeared when he used their property to create magic...
The Empty Lord is a figment of the imagination of gullible people who started worshipping the purple Elder Bathrobe. The name and symbol comes from the washing label: Za-ros means "Do not dry clean".
