well, i think their intention for the SoF was for it to be a small addition to the game. I don't think they realized that there would be so much controversy. I do think that they should do a poll. I would be interested in seeing the results.

That is what they really want you to think, but it hasn't been a small addition to the game at all, has it? They update it constantly to entice people to spend more money in hopes of an easy way to success in Runescape. It permeates almost every update now.
If it smells like rotten fish it is most probably rotten fish. A game of chance is a game of chance is a game of chance. The same kind of morally bereft thinking that added it to the game to begin with, will continue to manipulate it . They count on youth who are still in their moral development (which just starts around age 14) to come to accept it because they don't yet have enough life experiences to realize what a lure a game of chance is.
A poll would probably just show how many players are still in the morally developing stage or who have passed it and have enough disposable income to not care what to spend their money on.
