What I think this update is:
- Another short-lived SOF update, to appease *coughpressurecough* buying spins.
- Kicking at the corner stone of any economy called 'a meta stable currency'. (meta stable meaning it can topple easily if nudged enough)
- Annoying/Ignoring at least 95% of everyone on this forum and in RS. That's... 190 million players, right?
- Not honouring Runescape as a game with a community of players, but as a product with a profit margin that needs to increase by ripping of customers.
Elaboration:
We already have the snazzy gold hammer, the cake, and such fun stuff because people said "Yay RuneScape!" And when you reach 200m, similar to the XP milestone, you say "Remember that 'fun prize on the side'? Let's make it even MORE appealing to BUY! No special items, just 8 (or 4 for Free Players) chances over 4 days to win... money!"
+ If you have money issues, Jagex, just up membership fees. That's a LOT better than this SOF garbage you spew over everyone. And a lot more people would UNDERSTAND and SUPPORT that.
+ If it's not money, I'd like to point out the tsunami of thumbs going downwards in your way for this 'celebration'. I mean, if the QUEEN (unrelated to the game) can get a fantastic celebration, the GAME (you know, what made you huge!) should too.
Regardless, happy 1/5th billion accounts, Jagex. Fantastic milestone, and I hope you all enjoy the big dinner or whatever you have to celebrate. The update aside, I'm apathic about it, since those numbers never fascinate me.
If you DO intend to make something awesome when the counter reached 200.000.000, I'll forgive you for it. Maybe.
PS. Won 250k with my spin and a medium lamp. Response... too much?
(I did buy spins in the past. I was naive.)
