Lol. Every new thing that comes out on EOC Rs makes me happier to spend time in Old School, the GOOD game! All they do is throw more junk at us, both on the SOF and everywhere else, too. They never fix any of the really big problems, such as the fact that herb lore and runecrafting were made completely useless by the EOC. Also, there are the horrible loading/lagging times, that make the game often completely unplayable. And when we complain, all they do is throw more armor at us, or more xp for doing nothing much at all, or more crap for SOF and Solomons. No wonder they're trumpeting the fact that the quest is an 'old school' type quest. Why? Because the Old School quests are actually good! Many of the newer quests are pure crap, with stupid rewards and silly story lines. They are obviously just thrown together hurriedly, so that the quest cape fools will have another quest to finish before they can wear their cape again. And oh, gee golly, another hard boss. I'd find that totally exciting - if I was a 14 yr old boy! But since I'm not...I couldn't care less if I tried. Every update lately has just made the game worse and worse, with no end in sight.

Ladies and gentleman, here we can look at the wild idiot. It wanders around, stating that it hates the live game, yet is here on the forums for the live game.

Meanwhile, Jagex continues to create imbalance in the combat triangle, introducing lvl 90 mage gear.

Imagine if you made 16,000 blood runes.

Then Jagex updates the game so now you have to kill Vorago to get a new magic staff to use blood runes, but you don't boss fight.

You now have 16,000 blood runs you made for use with a staff you also made, but suddenly the blood runes can not be used with the staff you made. You can still make more blood runes the same way, but you can't use them any more.

That is basically what happened fro me with my bolts I made for use with my rune crossbow.

I have over 16,000 bolts I made for use with my rune crossbow which suddenly can not be used with my rune crossbow, and because I do not boss fights I can not get a crossbow that will work with my bolts.

I will not get chaotics, because they are not player made, and they devalue smithing. Every other crossbow which can fire my enchanted bolts is from a boss drop, and I refuse to make boss fighters rich while non combat skillers are left with no way to obtain a decent crossbow which can fire their enchanted bolts made for use with a rune crossbow.

Not everyone boss fights, not everyone wants their gear to come from boss drops, there are players who actually want to use their non combat skills to make their gear for slayer and quests.

I don't really share this mob mentality players are unscrupulously stating here, but I would agree with players who feel they're not getting their money's worth of updates. Although it's true that RS3 is taking up most of the team's time this summer, Jagex is funded by a monthly subscription, and as such players expect their money's worth each month.

As a gold subscriber, I know I will likely be satisfied by december's end with all of this year's updates. But, when you shrink similar expectations down to only a month and let players 'see' about 2 significant updates accompanied by the endless SoF and solomon updates, perception becomes key. Either don't tell them anything to avoid feeding the negative vibe many players are regurgitating upon each other, or allude to surprise updates as well (w/ or w/o a timeframe).

It's also true that most of these players contradict themselves as well. One person wants more non-combat focus for his non-combat obtained items. But the player obviously limits himself to only a portion of the game, so, expectedly, he can only hope for a portion of the content to be satisfactorily available to him. Otherwise, Jagex would have to be catering to the mini-game only crowds or pures, if they even exist anymore. If you play the entire game including the parts you don't like (AKA bossing), you'd find much less to complain about.

But I digress, my main point is only to help clarify why people are frustrated. It's not because they're morons or babies, but rather because they're being continually disappointed by a variety of mistakes on Jagex's part, public relations-wise. I would suggest a peak back to RS in 2006 or early 2007 (for those who played then) for an example of what went 'right' that made RS so popular in the first place.

As of now, I'm mostly holding on to the belief that RS can return to it's former greatness, or daringly perhaps even surpass it considering the onslaught of novelty with recent updates.
