I have to say I'm excited about the launch of RS3. Sure I found the HTML5 beta a bit slow and buggy but I don't imagine that it's going to stay that way. I hate having Java installed on my system and the only reason I ever did was for RS so I switched to the client and have always used it. My browser of choice is chrome and I've used the method to create my own client window as was documented somewhere on the site.
For those that don't like Chrome, fair enough, you still have the java version so no big loss. Or alternatively you could try Maxthon Cloud browser, it's a chinese developed browser but currently has the highest rated compatibility with html5 so I reckon it'd work for RS (see http://html5test.***/results/desktop.html). I'm not endorsing this browser but I have tried it myself and I'll stick with Chrome as it's my preferred one but I'm mentioning it to point out that ppl have choice, chrome, maxthon or java.
Jagex have to progress with the times, sure we may love to play the game we now know and love and I admit I sometimes go to play some old SNES games in an emulator now and then but you have to move one and update at some point.
