what upsets me most is that after a big ol' blowout about players gambling with other players not so long ago, JaGex decieded that squeal of fortune was a plausable idea. Players saying that buying spins is just a form of micro-transaction, sadly, I disagree. A micro-transaction by definition of it's own name, is the trading of a small amount of money, for something you want. What you are being sold however, is the remote chance that you might get a random rare item, and most likely not even the one you wanted.
Now onto the subject of children gambling. The fact is this: whether parents are paying for spins or not, the exposure is still there. Sadly, it is not down to the parents, in fact, can many of us truly say that if we showed this to a parent, they would even know what they were looking at? I know mine wouldn't!
I think we can all agree, that the inclusion of spins as quest rewards, was a poorly concieved idea also.
In my opinion, the most sensible thing to do with SoF is this:
Remove it from the the tab bar. Remove the daily spins. Add a location ingame to redeem SoF tokens obtained through combat, skillling and minigames. Make the tickets rarer. and finally, make the rate of getting a decent reward higher.
That way, it works in a similar fashion to the rare drop table, but is more open to everybody.
Thanks for your time,
