I'm just exploring using fairy rings and home tele. Rendering and frame rates are really slow but I expected that.

Graphic objects look great but the lighting detail seems to make a lot of objects too intense and contrasty. Zanaris in particular is totally over the top and it makes it rather unpleasant to be there. Also the issue of straight lines where there should be curves seems to have been exacerbated and are more noticeable * check out the RPDT employees and the water line at/near Ardy Zoo.

I also like the varying draw distances but don't like that the horizon is always sky. This is not realistic. If the background object is a mountain or a wall then the horizon should be something other than blue sky. This is particularly noticeable when draw distance is low or medium. The green “fog” that appears when you choose low draw distance in Zanaris looks really naff.

The water highlights are a bit overdone and too pixelated. The light/dark shading gives a real sense of a realistic water surface but the bright highlights that are supposed to represent sunlight reflections look really fake, like someone laid a set of Christmas lights on the water. They also look terrible on the mini map.

The additional ground textures look great, especially in the desert or on sand islands but somehow grass looks less real than it does in the Java version.

All the whites are too bright and look more like an ethereal, glowing alien – check out any white unicorn or sheep.

My character briefly disappear when cutting trees, burning logs, planting seeds etc. I don’t know if this is a graphical glitch or a frame-rate issue.

Some of the sounds effects are a bit naff like the punching sound – it sounds more like a door being closed or a rug being beaten than someone being punched.

The items in the bank don’t look very good with the shading. It makes them more difficult to distinguish from similar items.

Frame rates are too slow to really test gameplay for glitches.

When I use my Assassin home tele, after I disappear, the area that was enveloped by the white flash turns a weird orange. I don't know if this is new and deliberate or a glitch. Either way it doesn't look good atm.

The new lighting looks fab in dark areas like Draynor and various swamps. Particularly with dynamic shadows turned on. Way cool. Very atmopheric.

I also love the use of colour in Al Kharid. The brighter look suits the desert area and is more realistic - they are/were colourful places.

TK, your message is in the wrong forum mate.. This is about the Beta, nothing else. :|

Speaking of the Beta, things are coming along great. I'm loving the new lighting effects, particularly in places like Draynor and Al Kharid, and while it's still very laggy, it's much faster than what it was on day one, and things are looking even sharper than before, particularly the player face models in conversations, which I like. I'm still finding a few weird bugs though. For example, regardless of my graphical settings, I still can't see water. I can see the riverbeds and sea floors, but the actual water textures aren't there. It's not game-breaking, but it does make things very weird, especially when I realise that an 'ocean' is only a few feet deep. :P

Home teleports are a little strange too. After I've clicked my lodestone destination, but before the animation starts, there's this weird crimson fog that appears at my characters feet. Again, the teleport still works fine, but it looks very odd.

Log-in is a tad strange as well. I left my character stationed in Castle Wars, but when I logged back into the beta, the client spent about 5 minutes fully loading Al-Kharid Bank, before it seemed to realise that I wasn't there, and that it should probably load Castle Wars, which took another 5 minutes.

Draw distance fog is a tiny bit odd, given that it's always sky, regardless of where I look. Camera angled as horizontal as I can make it, I'm constantly seeing the sky, everywhere. This may be as intended for now, but it would be nice to see some differentiation between ground and sky fog.

Lastly, I'm not a fan of the new inventory/bank item shading. The items feel too chunky, especially compared to how they look in-game.

Despite these bugs however, the beta is so much better than when it started. :) Keep it up, RS3 looks better every time I log in. :D
