Allowing Chrome through the Guardian has proven too much of a pain, so I think I'm going to wait until the beta is available on firefox. But I did notice one bug right away: The numpad keys behave as if num lock is off when trying to enter the username, ext

Error_game_js5connect - Unable to connect to update server.
RuneScape was unable to connect to the update server. This is most likely caused by a firewall blocking the connection.

To resolve this:

If you have firewall or security software installed, they can often block RuneScape from accessing its servers. Please ensure that RuneScape/Java can connect to its servers on port 43594.
Note: Windows XP Service Pack 2 has built in firewall software. If, when loading RuneScape, this asks if you want to allow the connection, you need to say 'yes'.
If that doesn't help, then an external firewall may be causing the problem. Please ask your network adminstrator/ISP to open port 43594 for TCP traffic so that RuneScape and Java can run correctly.
If problems persist, please refer to the Technical FAQs, which can be found in the Customer Support section of our website.

I have tried to resolve this and failed :(

i was able to log in on my first attempt and every time there after i get the same message. i have tried to open the port but im not so computer savy and haven't found a good source for help anywhere ive looked on the internet

Not sure if this will help people trying to go into the beta -

1. You must have received an email or have silver/gold membership

2. My Specs : Pentium i5 2500k, 3.3 GHz, no overclocking
8 Gb RAM, SSD 128 GB HD, 2nd drive 2Tb Sata 3
NVDia GeForce GTX 550 Ti, DVI 25 inch LED monitor

Country: Australia Line Speed: ADSL 2+ (about 300-400 Mbps) in
my town/suburb

Win 7 SP 1

This is considered bottom of the line for decent on-line gaming.

3. Firefox user. Downloaded Chrome and followed Jagex's instructions concerning updating the video drivers. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR HTML5/CHROME TO WORK PROPERLY. DON'T RELY ON AUTO-UPDATES.

4. Beta works okay on low res, mid res playable and high res very laggy (but this is the res you want for the best effects of HTML5). IT IS EARLY DAYS YET AND SPEED HAS SLIGHTLY IMPROVED OVER THE LAST FEW DAYS (including logging in and graphics refresh).

DOESN'T HELP THAT ALL OF THE BETA SERVERS SEEM TO BE RUNNING IN ENGLAND.

BE PATIENT AND TRY TO HELP BEYOND THE OBVIOUS THAT JAGEX HAS STATED WILL BE PRESENT. THEY WANT TO KNOW ABOUT OTHER PROBLEMS BESIDES SPEED.

Hope this may help a bit.

Now, the long distance viewing I don't really care for much, as I like the overhead view to get maximum out of the surrounding area I am in.

So, atm, I'm not seeing any real benefits in HTML5. The graphics are nicer and the sound seems more dynamic. I guess this helps game playing a bit, but for such a big change, not a warranted improvement from my point of view.

Look forward to more testing over the coming weeks/months, but I am only going in for about half an hour a day atm till you improve that wonderful on-line game flow you have spoilt me with, over the last couple of months, after finally getting rid of most of the lag from previous years.

Finally, 4 PC's hardwired and 1 wireless on our router.

No PC Unix testers ? Will try...
