This has the potential to be the biggest update ever.

My faith in a player driven game is low however.

-Glitches with untested updates abound

-lack of communication between developers and long standing players still abides

-fair play has consistently been overlooked for the sake of company profit (for shame)

Imo the '07 has had good response due to the simplicity of the game which Runescape was notorious for and the ability to once again compete for the top rank

this all remains to be seen and we all wish you luck in turning this game around on a positive note

+1 to this all day long, 100% agree!

Hello guys, firstly i think RS3 will be an amazing success however i think some will miss out on all it has to offer such as me, unfortunately my computer skills are not really up to scratch. I am currently running a Mac on Safari and i have to use the downloadable client, ive been told HTML5 runs on crome which i don't plan on getting. Is there any chance someone can help me either update my java or explain to me how to access HTML5 with or without crome, because if it comes to it i will get crome on the mac. Thanks all and keep up the good work.

p.s if u plan on helping me pls pm me in the game because i hardly check forums =]

Atleast open it to F2P Players
Jagex always ignores the F2P Players......
This is why People stop playing because they simply get ignored.....

You're really mistaken here.
1. Jagex doesn't exactly ignore you: F2p gets updates and eventually access to RS3.
2. You can't complain, because you don't pay. It's easy: people pay for runescape for more functions, areas and things like beta's, for example: RS3. That's the privilege members get.

jagex don't care about f2p players anymore.they openly admitted to it in their rs2007 update in which they said since only p2p players bring in the money, only they get to vote/early acces/acces it.but what jagex doesnt realize is that every player was a f2p player at some point or another.what's wrong with recent updates is this:members update+members update+members update....and when a f2p update does come its usually aimed at members(reworked graphics, quest do overs etc) to advertise their own salomon store/squeal of fortune etc.
if by any chance at all any one of the people at jagex would care to listen, listen carefully.
by making beta updates available to free to play players you could make more money then with only offering it to your existing members because to advertise something effectively you have got to show it to a larger audience.f2p players are the core of your game,so do sth to increase your player base for once.

You know what, man? F2p players aren't the core of runescape. They bring little money in (a bit from advertisements) and that means, for a company, they aren't as important as P2p players. You can't say the free-to-play game is small, you can play it for years and years (I have) and you still won't be done. But adding new content isn't free, and since f2p'ers don't bring in money, new content isn't added. The free game is more a step-up to the members' game than it is a game on it's own. It's always been, by the way. People have reasons to pay for runescape, beta's are one of them.

Yeah, player feedback. Right.

Based on your (in)action around player feedback about EoC I'm pretty sure you guys have a special 'file' sitting in the corner of your office especially for 'player feedback'... otherwise known as a garbage bin...

RS3 is going to be the beginning of a new
golden age
for RuneScape. The sheer amount of design space that Jagex is opening up with EoC and RS3 is astronomical. Change is needed for growth and evolution to occur - stagnation is the
enemy
of progress. RuneScape will continue to prosper well into the future with RS3 and what it brings to the party.

Personally, I find the graphics and music to be an integral part of my game experience - the better they are, the more immersed I can become in Gielinor. RS3 will significantly up the ante in this regard (as did RSHD back in 2008), revitalising the game world yet again. I remember logging into RS right after the RSHD update at Catherby bank, and the sheer amazement and elation I felt was incredible. I trust that RS3 will have a similar impact for myself and many, many other players.

Really looking forward to this. I wouldn't even mind everyone getting reset back to square one, probably because I don't have any high stats yet. But still it'd be nice to be able to compete for high positions in the hiscores, similarly to 07. However, I'm glad Jagex have taken into consideration players don't want their efforts wiped away for nothing. Hope this goes well :)
