Too bad its member only sign ups. Played this game since about May of 2007 , even F2P veterans won't be allowed without membership... unless mentioned otherwise in the near future.
I wonder if they will send 1 week memberships via e-mail like during the evolution of combat testing?

So I pay $77 and ALL members can participate in the beta?

I'm pretty sure that all gold standard members will get 100% chance of getting into the beta at first. And the rest of the members will only get a chance if they are picked. This means that the rest of the members will have to wait longer to test out the beta than gold members. :) . So you guys still get extra privileges.

people will hate it even more because too many people are stuck with internet explorer which doesnt even support HTML5.. you'll be losin a whole lotta internet cafe / library players.. instead of making it browser based why not make it a standalone directx app?

a) Cafe and libraries dont normal let you install standalone apps.

b) Thankfully Internet explorer use was hugely reduced by Chrome and Firefox. IE6 specificly killed by Google dropping support, many switched to other browsers. Statistically IE users arnt such a big deal anymore - certainly not compared to the tablet market.
Those that are "stuck" with it can still use the download client - or, you know, do their work rather then play games. Because if your using IE, it better be because you are in a office and dont have a choice :P

DirectX isn't a cross-platform API. It wouldn't run native on anything other than Windows computers. Besides, they've stated before that the Java client isn't going anywhere.

"2. What Version of Java should we Upgrade to"

Confusing though it is; Java and Javascript are utterly different things.
The new runescape uses Javascript and thus doesn't need Java at all.
Thus there is no "version" to worry about. All you need is your browser, its completely self-contained.

i am curious and looking forward to rs3...
but its nice to see that you think of us first loyal members as ... all other players.......are we so lowly thought of:

"Gold and Silver Premier Club members will automatically get access to all parts of the programme,"" and all other"" RuneScape members can register their interest from next Wednesday"
Happy go Lucky :)
