Counterargument for transferable skills:
The main reason why I (and so many others) played runescape so long was for the drive to get 99 skills. We all wanted that satisfaction of finally accomplishing the maximum and showing off that sweet skillcape because not many other people had achieved what we had. Today, there is almost no drive for many of us to get our skills to 99 and beyond. People have all their skills to 90+ if not already 99 and they have millions if not billions in the bank. Why bother getting a skill to 99 to show off a skillcape if 200 thousand other people already have it and they have the resources to level it so much faster than you can?
From a “veteran” of 2004, I welcome this update for the return of competition to the game.
