Expected this would happen. Either way, if Jagex had stuck to their guns and said "No way!" to old servers, they'd have lost their playerbase, which meant loss of money and no more RS. And with this now, they've shown this community that they'll back down to anything as long as they make enough noise about it. This will be just the beginning of the community's 'demands' and now Jagex won't ever have a leg to stand on with saying 'yes' or 'no' - now the community (who are quick to lash at each other's throats as well as the company's) has control over the game.
That vote will easily be smashed if it's as poor as the last one (i.e being able to vote multiple times) and I also see it as a bit of a sly desperate move making it members only vote, making these peeps who want it back and cancelled membership to quickly purchase more just to vote, meaning the company gets a little bit of cash to stay afloat and support this crazy idea of a dedicated seperate development team that will very likely end up producing content for both the 'main game' and the old version.
Willing to bet a big some of cash that we'll be seeing the votes creep close to if not over 700k, which would mean the 2007 version would be free to play. You want peeps to play the game? The main one? Hell no they won't. You'll have 200k+ peeps online again playing, and most of them will be on the 2007 version while the brand new one withe the EoC and all our fancy content will be cast to one side and in the shadow of the overwhelming, demanding, spoilt juggernaught that is this 'nostalgic crew' - so what will be the point of producing any fancy quests with voice acting, super bosses and 'Level your Items' content when the current community will just snub it in favour of the oldschool, which they will no doubt also snub when they get bored of it.
No, they won't be going on the 'main game', they'll simply go and play another game alltogether like they always have done.
Won't be an RS about in 2014 I think.
